Hi ! It would be great to begin this interview with a history of your group ?
Well, our history goes back to the early 90´s, when we started up with a Band called Scent of Paradise and at that time we´ve played some kind of Doom/Death Metal. Our guitarist Werner and myself was the ones who found the Band and a good friend played the Drums. We had done a Cassette-Demo (1993) to deal with in the austrian underground and the reactions was great. Then, after changing our Bandname into Pathetic, we had recorded the first CD which was entitled “As we fade”(1995). This four-track Demo-CD was very proffessional for that time, and our style I would describe as Melodic-Death Metal. We played pretty much Shows in the area and we were soon known as a good newcoming austrian Band. After releasing this mini-CD, a second, new guitarist (gerald huber) joined us and he´s still with us to build the main line-up of collapse 7. When our drummer left us, we had decided to still keep on writing songs for a new release in near future and the result would be a full length Album called “In deep silece”. The facts that I got no time for my own Band while playing in Pungent Stench & Belphegor and having no drummer, forced us to take a time out for a very long period of time. And then, after learning to know our new excellent drummer Mike (who is playing also with “Hollenthon”), we´re headed off to rehearse the new material with him.

 

Please tell us about your new album’s conception. Tell us about the new songs & its recording process.
The conception, I would sa

y is very straight. If you looking at the coverartwork (where you can see a lost, devestated city hiding in the desert), there`s nothing more to say about that. Many subjects are mirrored in our lyrics but the main things are different forms of the apocalypse. All songs are written in a long period of time so that I can say that this makes it even more interesting. We indeed profit of the way that we do our songwritting. You know, everyone´s involved in that process and that is very important for creating such an atmosphere like we do. Working together with mastermind Martin Schirenc was such a great thing and we´re all very satisfied with that. He´s a proffessional in anyway and we knew each other for a long time, that´s very helpfull. He had brilliant transformed all our imaginations of our sound-style.

 

How would you describe your music?
We describe our style as “Apocalyptic-Death Metal”. You must know that the lyrics are pretty strong, and together with our aggressive, dark and atmospheric Music theres no better way to describe our conception. We always try to create a very varied song-structure to receive a good mix of all ingredients that this kind of extreme music shall contain. In now a days the most Bands sounds like pussy-melodic or extreme brutal stuffed Death Metal and that is what we try to compensate all the time. We´re in the position to handle that problem and do the best to fill our music with this very special things that we miss in this genre.

 

Do you have plans for touring Europe these coming months ? What bands would you like to share the sta

ge with ? Do you appreciate some french ones ?
We´re now looking for a good Tour across Europe in autumn to promote the Album. It´s very important to get a Tour cause we´re a newcoming Band. We also do single-Shows in the area but to play festivals this season is very hard, because the Albumrelease was delayed and the most of the summer fests are booked in spring. Anyway, better luck next time…………………...
There are a few older Bands from France I know. One of my favorite Albums of all times is Loudblast “Sublime dimentia” and Massacra “Signs of the decline”, Great Albums!! Bands from now a days I really do not know that much, sorry.

 

Other projects now ?
Mike, Werner and myself do play with Hollenthon and Mike do also play in a Stoner-Rock Band. I quit all other Bands to concentrate on Collapse 7. That´s all.

 

How are things going with your new label Napalm Records till now?
Very good! I mean this deal is very important for us. This guys are all professionals and they try to do their best, the promotion is also good. I know much other Labels, some sucks and some are great, that are facts that I can tell you, but my feelings say that this is going to be a great cooperation!
