Amazing potential, shitty production.

If you don't know Suicide Silence, you've been under a rock for the past 5 years. They are the poster-band for deathcore. This was their first real studio release. They could've fooled me with the production value.

I, personally, could not make out any of the instrumentals for this album apart for the drum sections. From what I can manage to hear, the guitars are pretty decent and the drums aren't too shabby either. Like most other deathcore releases, the bass is non-existent. I don't know whether to blame the band or the audio quality for that one. The one good thing about this is that Mitch Lucker's voice is finally raw instead of being dubbed over again and again like in all of their other releases. His voice sounds much heavier when not layered and when you can't make heads or tails on what his lows are saying even when reading the lyrics. I don't know why, but I like that.

Well, maybe I like that because the lyrics are nothing to write home about. At best they're confusing and seemingly meaningless. At worst they're unreadable. Hey, at least they improved over time I guess. It shows a more infantile version of their song writing. Overall, this album had great potential. The sound quality ruined it. Along with poor song writing. Maybe I'm a little bias because I do really like their first two full-length albums but 75% seems fair.
