First they thought of a Finnish Black Metal band then they released their first debut "Midnattens Widunder" then, they are Finns, their Black Metal band transformed into a lovely, respectful and worldwide known Blackened Folk Metal band, yes, they are Finntroll, and who can deny the presence of those pioneers?

This is their third release after 2 successful albums, and everything seems to be working great with this band, I mean, the release dates, the good line-up, the good usage of each instrument that creates the wonderful atmosphere where, for a second, you forget that you're still in your room to imagine yourself in some magical forest of Finland.

The album starter is a very unique one, they used lots of effects to create the above mentioned atmosphere, but they seemed like they don't want to leave you at the gates of that Finnish forest, they grab your hand and push you in instead, using great guitar riffs, great use of violin and keyboards and drums that vary between fast beats and normal ones which are essential for such a genre, still, nothing is commercial or over-used.
The nice thing is that they keep surprising you with the good, well played and used music throughout the whole album, I mean there's no song in the album to disappoint you. And though they use lots of effects, but for somewhat you feel like the album wouldn't be this great without the use of these effects.

The vocals are so goddamn great and so rare, they are somewhere between the vocals that are used in traditional Black Metal and those used in Folk Metal, and after getting the vocals combined with the other musical elements, they all gave the birth to an outstanding release!

I will not talk here about the lyrics and titles because they are written in Finnish which I know nothing about, but to tell the truth, the cover artwork is awesome, it's just fantastic and gives more fantasy to the atmosphere.

My favorite songs are "04. Trollhammaren", "06. Ursvamp", "08. Det Iskalla Trollblodet" and "09. Grottans Barn", by the way the song "Trollhammaren" is awesome, no wonder they released an EP for it, and is a good choice for a video clip, talking about the video clip here, well I just don't know what to say, I mean, damn, it gives extra points to a release that doesn't need any more compliment or points! I give this Release 20/20.

Now it's been 5 or 6 years since this release and this band is about to release a new album in the upcoming 2 months, in fact they already released a song and the question is: Will it be as good as Finntroll used to release? Well, that's what are we going to know later!

YouNeverSawMe - 22 Dezembro 2009: The titles and the lyrics aren't written in Finnish, but Swedish. Since they think that Swedish sounds so trollish. And, honestly, I think the same.
