Infinite Death is the second EP released by Australian Deathcore band Thy Art Is Murder. This EP was released on the 2nd of August 2008 by Skull And Bones Records. This is only a small EP and is pure Deathcore.

This EP is Thy Art Is Murder’s second release and is 100% Deathcore. This album is fairly extreme as for the music but is very disappointing as for the way it is played. The Music just doesn’t cut for me but there are some up side to this EP and I will tell the good and the bad.

Firstly there are some good things about this album, all the songs aren’t that bad. In my opinion there is only one good song on this EP and that is the song Infinite Death. This song is very fast technical and has a very heavy breakdown to go on top and not to mention the unbelievably fast drumming. This EP is full of heavy breakdowns such as in the songs I’ll Show You God and Parasitic Autopsy also the solos are better in the EP than in their album The Adversary, which I give two thumbs up.

There are some downsides to this album as well. Firstly I don’t really like the tune some of the songs are played at other than in the song Infinite Death. This is because there too many transitions in a short period of time and this confuse me. Also that a lot of the songs follow the same pattern of Bang, Bang, Fuck, Shit and it gets really boring because they just sing about nothing and it feels like forever. Also this is very shot EP with only 5 songs, so I don’t think it is worth $10 and it isn’t even that good. (MY OPINION)

Overall this EP disappoints me considering the length of the EP and the actual music itself has no structure it is all over the place. There is one song I like and that is Infinite Death so I recommend that people should download this song off I-tunes and only if you like this song you may want to consider getting the rest. If you don’t like Infinite Death I would steer clear of the rest of the songs and also because it is very short. Although this EP disappoints me it is not the worst EP/Album I have ever heard from the Deathcore genre but I would only recommend this album to hardcore Deathcore lovers, like me and I would like people to compare this EP to The Adversary. Overall I give this EP a 12/20.

Yikes

Good lord, I've heard some poor music in my time but this just takes the cake. Thy Art is Murder are one of the worst deathcore bands I've ever heard and Infinite Death sums up everything I Hate about them perfectly. The music is a mess, with completely random technical fills which don't fit at all in with the context of the songs, there's way too many breakdowns and the vocalist is horrific. And although I wish I could leave the review at that, the rules require me to expand further so here goes.

Infinite Death is bad, really bad, the guitarists play a series of completely random technical fills with no structure or thought put into them with an over abundance of breakdowns. Breakdowns in themselves aren't inherently a bad thing, some bands pull them off better than others and when done right they can compliment the music. However, breakdowns need to be used sparingly and the band needs to ensure that they're kept interesting enough to prevent the music from becoming monotonous. When much of your music is comprised of breakdowns however, then the whole point of them becomes lost. The technical leads are laughably bad, there's too much sweep picked lines that don't mix well with the context of the music which is incredibly simple despite what others might say. The guitarists can handle their instruments I'm not denying that, but there's a difference between being good musicians and being good song writers. The technical musicianship doesn't seem to exist for any other reason except for the fact of showing off.

Similar to every other deathcore band on the freaking planet, this gets boring, and fast. There's no variation between songs, each song follows the same formula of technical lead followed by breakdown; rinse and repeat. The vocals are beyond awful, whilst the low growls are competent enough, they lack character and sound weak. The highs are really what bring it down, they're incredibly whiny, annoying and when mixed with the ridiculous lyrics it becomes comical. Unfortunately, the music is highly vocal driven with them leading the music much of the time, as is the case with Whore to a Chainsaw.

With deathcore, I try not to hold it to the standards I hold other music to and thus I have very low standards for this kind of music. I try not to get worked up about deathcore because the very nature of it prevents me from taking it seriously. By deathcore standards Infinite Death is bad, it follows the usual formula but does it in a way that is much worse than what other bands have done. It's like Suicide Silence for a number of reasons, the vocals are similar, with Brendan trying to recreate the distinctive high screams of Mitch, and the lyrics seem to deal with typical subjects. The musicianship is certainly more technical than the aforementioned band but it's also a lot worse, the music is nowhere near as catchy with Thy Art is Murder struggling to write anything that can be called cohesive. If I hold this to the same standards I hold to other music then this is pretty much the worst thing ever, there's no coherence, guitarists don't know a lick of musical theory and just play wHatever, vocals are grating and the lyrics are obnoxious as hell. There's really nothing to enjoy about this, and although it's a deathcore by the numbers release, they manage to make it a whole lot more annoying than what I would have thought possible. Avoid at all costs.

a beautiful masterpiece

Thy Art is Murder's Infinite Death is their second EP, and is some of their best music they have. The music is tight, the drums are fast, and the vocals are orgasmic. Having to listen to this album, I was blown away by the harsh vocal power in I'll Show You God. The lyrical content are based on something that possibly isn't real, and the people believing in that "nothing," are wasting their life. And all anti-Christ people would certainly love this material. Not to mention that the music, as for the guitar and the drums, are amazingly put together. I certainly love the small technical parts in the middle of the crazy drum breakdowns. It fits the purpose of the album basically. And as for the rest of the album, it's just amazing, hands down.

My personal favorite parts of their songs are, in Breeding Bacteria, is when the bass pedals slow down, then go into a sick-nasty breakdown. Pretty sexy stuff right there. And as for Whore To a Chainsaw, the beginning is just insane and with the bass-drop, my head phones are literally vibrating. It's that amazing. And as for Infinite Death, the song is about how the world is filled with sluts and they're only here for us to humiliate. One hell of a song topic, but it still is bad-ass for a crazy band like these guys. And for Parasitic Autopsy, the whole song is just crazy. I could kill someone moshing to something insane as of this.

Anyways, overall the album is just a perfect, mind blowing masterpiece. The vocals, drumming, guitar coordination, and lyrical content makes this a perfect album for anyone really into hardcore deathcore. Cuz it's certainly one hell of a roller coaster ride. 20/20

Best EP I ever did hear!!!

My friend gave me the mp3s of this album last summer and he told me that these five songs were the best he ever heard. He was 100% right! This album gets alot of flack for being too typical deathcore but I promise you that it is in the best way possible! Heavy breakdown, technbical parts, screaming vocals. Deathcore at its best. But it's more technical and heavy then normal deathcore. it puts the "death" in deathcore!

The first song is I'll Show You God. An anti-religion and somewhat sexist song. I hope the sexism is just on the albums theme of being inside the head of an insane killer and not personal views. The thing that sticks out id the technical guitar parts and the amazing drum beat layed out by Mr. Lee Stanton. The drums are amazing! It just seems impossible that Lee can go as fast and hard as he does! The vocals go perfectly with the music. It's the best song in an album of amazing songs.

Second is Whore to a Chainsaw. The first song that caught my eye (And how could it not with a name like that?) It's more breakdowny then the previous song, unfortunately. But the breakdowns are technical. Most breakdowns are just chugs while they do so much more! The lyrics go with the name and remind me of old school brutal death metal lyrics. Everything goes together perfectly and its beautiful.

The third song is Parasitic Autopsy. Weaker lyricly but it's a great song and theres a reason it was both on this and The Hole Is Not Deep Enough. It is a brutal, more death metal song. Still keeps the technicality and double bass epicness of the other songs. It has to deal with murder and lust. While i think the lyrics could be better, I don't think much else needs changing. Maybe it's alittle slow for my taste but TAIM makes it work.

Then there is Breeding Bacteria. Misanthropia to its core. I remember walking along the shore of New Jersey after the first season of the horrid show based off of that location and staring at the merch while listening to it and wishing humanity will die at that moment. Good times. Drum wise, their best song. Amazing guitar and great vocals! It's musically their best song, in my opinion.

Last is the title track. Psychopathic lyrics about murder and rape. Goes with the albums theme. Vocallly, Van Ryn's best work. You can tell an insanity in his voice that you just rarely get going so perfectly with the lyrics. The breakdown near the beginning is a bit more lazy then I'd like but once you get past that it's pure brutality and technicality. Stanton is amazing as always. The string trio of Markowski, Delander and Low is definately working at full force to make this track stand out and they do.

In all, you can not do deathcore better. Energetic, insane, and has a sense of brutality that you rarely get in deathcore. Plus the technicality that you have at display that blew my mind at first listen. 20/20. I wish they would have kept Van Ryn. I am glad they moved in a heavier direction to compliment their lyrics better, but this album is still their best. I hope their new album has the energy that was at display here but The Adversary lacked because then it may become my new favorite. But this album is perfect for deathcore at its core.
