Opeth has had many different styles during their career, and has been pulling them off perfectly ever since their first album. Before recording the live CD and DVD, "The Roundhouse Tapes", They came out with their 8th full length record, Ghost Reveries. This album is a certain breakthrough for this particular band, and is considered one of their greatest, if not their best yet. Many fans became hardcore fans after the release of this particular record.

The first thing that I'd like to mention is the incredibly unique keyboard style and sound played throughout. In my opinion, keyboards help to add so much more melody to an album, because you can practically do anything with them. They have thousands of effects and a lot of the time, sound beautiful as long as you know how to play them, of course. In this case, most definitely. As always, the musicianship is creative, intricate, and tight, never falling behind or diminishing in any way throughout the record. Axenrot's drumming is very complicated and technical, and uses many jazz influences infused with classical, rock, and even swing in some cases. Mikael's vocals sound exceptional during the melodic parts, and the growls are very fluent during the metal verses. One outstanding feature of this album, is the riffs that are used by the guitars, in songs like, The Baying Of The Hounds, and Harlequin Forest. In short terms, they give me that special feeling whenever I hear something amazing. You know, when you start feeling all tingly and numb and suddenly get addicted to whatever you're hearing.

There is simply no doubt, that this is most definitely one of Opeth's finest albums to date, and will be one of my personal favorites for year's to come. A perfect score is all that this album deserves, and if you like great music, then you should go and buy this album... like, right now.

ryan5 - 21 Luty 2011: I totally agree. This would have to be my favourite metal album, and that's saying something. Mikael's vocals are the best in death metal, not to mention his clean vocals. Opeth add something a little extra to metal; A uniqueness in which other successful bands like Disturbed, Metallica, Children of Bodom (etc) all have. They all possess their OWN sound, and Opeth are up with the best of them. 20/20

It's IMPOSSIBLE not to like Opeth, and I can prove it. ;)
