乐队列表 Deathcore Whitechapel (USA) A New Era of Corruption

Honestly, I could just say this is purely brutal and Whitechapel's best release yet and be done with this review, but I think it deserves much more than the blunt truth.

So as we all know, Whitechapel is either the best or one of the very best Deathcore bands out there. Hell, they could attain the "best band of the New Millennium" tag, but that is exclusively my opinion. Alright so we have yet another Whitechapel album, and I thought This Is Exile was nearly perfect...Guess what? They did it again! Now to be completely honest, Whitechapel released what was to be known as one the most promising debut albums in The Somatic Defilement, and promising it was! When This Is Exile hit I was all over it, popped it in my stereo, came four times each song, and took a shower. So you can kind of get the idea of how dedicated I am to Whitechapel, and sort of how excited I was for the release of A New Era of Corruption. Let me tell you, it was my most anticipated album of all time, besides Born of Osiris's The Discovery, but that's beside the point. I was fucking excited.

Phil, how do you do it? I thought I had decently low, guttural growls, but Phil, god damn...Every album he outdoes himself. Phil, to state bluntly, may be the best vocalist of the New Millennium. There's not a point in this entire album, or any of their releases, where he doesn't amaze and inspire me with a song. In my eyes, he's my favorite, most inspiring, and I'll be damned if he doesn't have the most brutal vocals in the game. With that said, let's move on shall we?

At the time of the album release, Kevin Lane was Whitechapel's drummer, and a true god at drumming. I'm not entirely sure on how or why Whitechapel let him go, but I'm sure there's a good reason for it..anyways, Kevin is a total beast, and not only in this album, but every single release he's played in.Whitechapel is another band that uses multiple guitarists, and they probably execute it the best. The thing I greatly enjoy is that Whitechapel doesn't interpret a shit load of breakdowns like the majority of other Deathcore bands do, but when you do get one, if you haven't shit your pants outside of childhood, you will! :D Not only that, but the way 3 guitarists are able to keep a heavenly rhythm going throughout a song, nonetheless an entire album, is amazing. The distortion on the guitars is a real deep one, real crunchy, but definitely real smooth at the same time, and that's very hard to accomplish.


Like I've said before, the bass is the hardest instrument to hear, but it's definitely the one you will feel. I've tried playing bass, but it just wasn't for me because it is extremely difficult to perfect, even if it seems like the easiest thing to play, it is not! Whenever I crank up a Whitechapel song one thing I do is make sure I can feel their bass, and Gabe completes that mission every single time, so thank you!

So that about concludes this review for one of my favorite albums ever, just a couple more side notes. Something that really made me enjoy this album a lot is how dark and...doomy it sounded. It really gives off a supernatural vibe, with the opening riff in Breeding Violence, many people don't believe me when I say Deathcore can be very moving, and a lot of bands can't achieve the fact, but Whitechapel is one that moves me emotionally, and of course physically, every single time I hear them. So with that being said, amazing album. One that I will forever love and definitely recommend to newcomers of the genre, or just the band for that matter. 19/20
