Upbringing

Emiko grew up in a traditional Kyoto household; her mother taught Japanese calligraphy, and her father worked with classical instruments. She learned piano at 4 and lived a quiet, artistic childhood.

In high school, she discovered symphonic metal — and instantly fell in love with how classical and metal could merge.

Musical Awakening

Her turning point was hearing Kalafina and Nightwish in the same week. She realized metal could be mystical, cinematic, and emotional — and that she could build entire worlds with sound.

By college, she was composing for indie games, experimenting with digital synths, and blending classical with electronic darkness.

Joining Oblivion Sacrifice

Kazuki needed someone who could transform the band from “heavy metal with pirate themes” to “pirate metal opera.” Emiko brought:

atmospheric soundscapes

choral arrangements

orchestral depth

supernatural tonal identity

She made Oblivion Sacrifice sound haunted.
