1. KTO MNIE WYZWOLI?

I don’t understand what I do
For what I want to I don’t do
But what I hate I do

I have desire to do what is good
But I can’t carry it out.
For what I do is not the good I want
But the evil I hate, this I keep on doing.

For in my inner being
I delight in God’s law
But I see another law in me
Waging war against my mind

And making me a prisoner of sin

What a wretched man I am!

Who will rescue me
From this body
Of death?

Only He gives me freedom
Only He gives me strength
Only He gives me life
Makes my darkness fade away

He is the way!


2. THE LIGHT

The people walking in darkness
Have seen a great light;
On those living in the shadow
A light has dawned.

You’ve enlarged the nation
Increased their joy;
They rejoice before you
As people rejoice at the harvest
For you have shattered the yoke that burdens them,
The rod of their oppressor.

Because to us a child is born
A son is given to us.
And the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called

Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace
There will be no end
He’ll reign over his kingdom
Upholding it with justice and righteousness
From that time on and forever.

I find no reason to condemn him
I’ll have him whipped and I’ll let him go.

And my wife – she dreamt last night

But she said to me:

Don’t get involved with that innocent man!

Which one of these two d’you want me to
Release for you?
Shall I set the Messiah free?

Do you realize
I really could put you to death?
But I also have authority
To set you free!

Your authority comes not from you,
‘t was given you by God
And so the man
Who betrayed me
Is guilty of
A worse sin!
