1. Hi, first, thanks answering this interview. And could you start it with a little biography of your group.
- Hi. Thanx too. So, we started in the summer of 1995. I found the band with guitarist Voloda Zadrapa and drummer Dr. Victor Gieci. After female vocalist Witch came to the band we recorded our first record “Empire Of Emptiness” in the summer 1996. This record was completed in January 1997, when we recorded next three songs. And finally released in september 1997 by small underground british label Unknonw Territory. In 1999 was released the second CD “The Mirror Of Ages” by the same label. We created it together already without guitarist Voloda which was replaced by Tomax Gabris. In 2000 came out the third album “Oblivion” and it was the last CD for Unknown Territory. We overcame some problems with this label and because of bad distribution and bad promotion of our band we left this label. Next album “From Ashes & Dust“ was already released by Slovak label Metal Age Production. It was in the summer of 2002. After this album we overcame biggest personal changes and in small line-up, but with many guest musicians we recorded our fifth album „World Under World“, which was released in this year by Metal Age again.

 

2. Your new album, named “World under world” is just out, how was it received by the fans and the media.
- I think it was taken very good by our fans, because we’ve got very good reactions on our gigs. But some of reviews in the magazines and wezines were not so good. Some editors didn’t understood our modern electronic sounds and loops. We expected different reviews, because this album brought not so classic doom death metal. But it was very courageous record.

 

3. And you, are you personnaly totally satisfied with it ?
- We are satisfied with this album in all aspects. We can say we will do some things another in the future. This album was the first where we used electronic loops and I think we can be more better in this part of our music. But “World Under World” is very good album for me. I really like it.

 

4. “World under world” is your fifth album, in which way is if different of the others (if it is)?
- As I said. It was the first album where we used electronic elements. This is the bigest difference against our previous albums. The

second big change was in female vocals. This album was recorded by Lydia Lacova. But she was only the guest singer. Now is our female vocalist Witch comming back to our band. So we will work on our new albumu together again.

 

5. Could you explain to us the concept of the album, and why this album name ?
- The lyrics on new album deal about the end of life on planet Earth. I know it’s not very original theme, but I felt many reasons to get these thoughts out of my head and put them into new songs of GALADRIEL. World under world is the place under the ground of the Earth, where mankind will forlive last era of its existence. We will absolutelly destroy the planet and its atmosphere, therfore there will be catastrophical changes of temperature +/- at the ground. We will build the world under ground and wait for the death. Mayde is this a very crazy and dark thought, but it’s not unreal. See what we’re doing everyday with this planet, we’re like a cancer...

 

6. How would you describe your music for the readers ?
- It’s very hard to say. We can talk about some mix of doom, death and heavy metal with little influences of black metal with electronic elements. We’re using female vocals and cassical dark “raven voice”. We’re using keyboards too to create our songs more atmosopheric. 7. What are your influences ?
- Uff, I think anything what’s going on all around us. Everyday became so many moments that can influence you. And if you think about the musical influences... We listen so much kinds music. But it must be melodic and atmospheric music.

 

8. Galadriel is a character of “the Lord of the ring”, why choosing this band name ?
- So, we are fans of fantasy literature and the work of J.R.R. Tolkien is something like the bible of this kind of literature. There were more candidates from Lord Of The Rings for the name of our band. We chosed GALADRIEL and I really don’t remember why. It’s very beautiful name...

 

9. How is the metal scene in your country ? Is it hard to record a full length album or to do gigs ?
- There are many metal bands in Slovakia. But not so many are more then local bands. So, there are not so many bands which regularly record and release the

ir albums. There are some good record studios in Slovakia, so if you can pay more money for the record, you can create good sound. I think it’s the same like in other countries. And gigs? There is some problem with money. There’s no problem to play many gigs in Slovakia, but promoters cannot pay more then few money for the journey cost. This is terrible problem here in Slovakia...

 

10. Do you know Morgain, an other slovaque group ?
- Yes, of course. We’re under the same label. We played many gigs together and our female vocalist Witch now singsing in Morgain too, because their vocalist born a child and she wants to give all her time to this little baby.

 

11. Being signed by Metal Age Productions is a great luck no? How is it with them till now?
- It was for us the great step further. We were under Unknown Territory for a long time and it was very terrible time, because they didn’t promote any of our previous albums and the distribution was on very low level. So I’m really happy, that we can be under the wings of Metal Age. They released our last two CDs and we are very satisfied with their work. It’s the best label in our area.

 

12. Will french fans get the chance to see you on stages soon ?
- It’s hard to say... Now we must to solve some personal problems, because our drummer will leave the band at the end of this year. He wil have no time to play because of his work. So we must to find some compensation. But it would be great if we could come to see french fans next year. I hope it will be possible.

 

13. Do you know/apreciate french band ?
- I heard something from S.U.P. last time. And really like ELEND. I think their comming from France... (or not)? And I surely know some more bands, but now I cannot remember...

 

14. Others projetcs now ?
- Our guitarist Matus Hanus now plays in other band too. It’s CASTAWAY and their playing power metal. And that’s all. Now we think about some new songs for our next album, so ther’s no time for some projects.
