F stands for fantastic – I can’t describe these CD’s compositions in another way! Already the opening track This Barren Skin comes up with melodies everyone just has to embosom.
U like unfathomable – the expressive voice, most of the time dark and clear, fits the variable songs perfectly. The vocal arrangements are to go weak at the knees, exalted as taking part in a procession, wonderful performed.
N stands for naturalness of contrasts – FUNERAL allow the get-together of slow, overflowing structures with faster passages. As a consequence an overwhelming dynamic emerges, a vortex implicating me into an emotional cosmos, where I love to be imprisoned.
E for emotionality – on the one hand sentiments as despair, craving, as well as pain, on the other hand also augustness and power play a role. It is a sea of moods I want to immerse again and again. Vagrant God Demonstrates such a pellet with its gorgeous melody at the beginning arising repeatedly fortunately. The melody gets combined with impeaching vocals showing different kinds of punchy facets. The proportion of relaxed measures and steamroller-drumming is once again felicitous. A stands for astonishment – from time to time my mouth stays open because of the stunning and beautiful atmosphere every song offers, may it be contributed by a choir, the guitar, a flute (The Architecture Of Loss) or a lonesome hovering keyboard carpet – goose bumps alarm! It is unbelievable how enthralling every single track is arranged despite 8 minutes average length. The build-up of Pendulum is especially upsetting – and the title is program! A monolithic oscillating Pendulum appears in the mind’s eye and unleashes suchlike power that I can only relish in silence and confess admiration.
L like long-term-effect – because From These Wounds ably affiliates catchiness with melancholy and depth. It is definitely not easy to reel a pretty big fish in the unmanageable mass of releases, but for me From These Wounds is an outstanding album in the Doom Metal sector. At last I want to wish much fun to all Doom-aficionados while enjoying this work!
