That acoustic intro you mention is just about a rip off from Fates Warning's "In a Word".  I swear i'm not joking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zulBvVi1kfQ. The resemblance is uncanny.

Obscura are a terrible band. Honestly, they do absolutely Nothing that middle/later-era Death, Cynic, and a whole bunch of other bands didn't do better years beforehand. Also I gotta agree with 'djent'.

Obscura isn't that bad... but not that great either (overrated), and definately not good enough for me to Worship them like technical death gods.
 
What are people's thoughts on new Marduk... overrated?0

Yeah, it was okay. Somewhat long and repetitive for Marduk but okay, it's an EP. If their next album takes these songs as their worst, I'm happy

I mean yeah it was ok... but ok isn't good enough for Marduk. I thought that Wormwood would have to be one of their worst releases if you compare it to World Funeral and Panzer Divison Marduk. But, I guess that comes with age 0

I'm not sure if this band has come up yet... Xasthur 0
Probably one of the most overrated bands out there, I honestly don't see what is so special about them considering that there are many atmospheric black bands that could Kick their ass at their own game

But on the subject, I like Xasthur. They're one of the best I've heard, and people say it's Scott Conner himself who is overrated.
Too bad he's closing the doors on Xasthur for good though. It was a phenomenal band with a lot of dreary haunting atmosphere to it's music. But who knows? Maybe he'll start another band with a different genre. Almost like he's experimenting with different genres...
