My metal music listening days didn't start until I entered the tenth Grade (I'm going to be a senior this year), but then again, I was never exposed to any music other than country, pop and rap because I was just that kid that did whatever her parents told her, dressed and acted how they wanted me to. Anyway, I started listening to punk music in the middle of 9th Grade and then I discovered D.R.I a few months later and I liked the heavy sound they had and that started my love of metal music and expanded my music listening horizon.

Hah, lame story for a lame person.

I discovered metal when.... well i have always sorter had it around... its like a parent to me (the fun one). My DAD could play almost every rock instrument and made and composed his own songs before he died. and my mother has always been a rock chick... so they set me on my path and i found the Road myself to where im comfortable =]

I liked alternative (Sad days indeed). Then my friend who liked punk told me to listen to a band with an odd name. Dimmu Borgir. Listened to it, and was afraid for a bit. Then I heard that guitar... yep loved it!

Can anyone find how the Hell the gateway into metal for me was a Black Metal band?? I mean, usually it is a Nu Metal band (ugghh) or a Hard Rock band for most people, but seriously, how did Black Metal change me into a metalhead when right before that I listened to alternative?

Today, it is all Mirrorthrone, Kalmah, Devourment, Legion of the Dead and many more. METAL!

I think I told this story somewhere before:
DAD was into old school metal, he had Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Ac/Dc tapes so I listened to them a lot in parallel with other kinds of music, usually blues and 'oldies'.
After a while I was into Beatles, then started to search for more music on my own and discovered Iron Maiden, Helloween, Stratovarius etc etc and became a Power Metal fan.

Then at 16 I started frequenting   a/the only   local metal club in which they mostly played Extreme metal genres, especially Black Metal and got hooked up on a Summoning song 'The Passing of the grey company', then Moonspell's 'Alma Mater', Nargaroth's 'Possessed by Black Fucking Metal' and so on.

Now I got bands I like from almost every genre of metal. The End

A friend asks me to come to his house. I was just 10 years old. His DAD comes home from work and he gets a CD out of his dads van. It's the matrix soundtrack.

He plays Du Hast by Rammstein.
