I remember being round my Mum's friends house when i found a VHS Video called, ACDC - Live in Paris, Let There Be Rock, and a asked if i could put it on. I was 11 years old and the year was 1991. I was BLOWN AWAY with this guy on stage with a school uniform running around, headbaning, then lying on the Floor still playing his guitar sweating his ass off playing songs like Sin City and Bad Boy Boogie. I was mesmerized by the Power and energy of the music and i never looked back. My Mum's friend took me to see Uriah Heep a couple of months later. That year of 1991 changed my life forever.

I was dragged up listening to metal. When my mum was pregnant with me she went to see Ozzy. As I grew up I severely lost my way listening to all the pop crap that was on TV and the radio. It wasn't until I turned 10 that metal found me. I started off properly with bands like Saxon, Balaam And The Angel, Iron Maiden and Motorhead. Now that I have all grown up I still love bands like the ones I've just mentioned but my taste has grown. I now prefer bands like CoF,CoB, Devil Driver, Meshuggah, Necrophagist and the list goes on and on.

Had my DAD not played all those Metallica/Rob Zombie songs in the car when I was little, I'd still be listening to Rap/Hip-Hop.

It SAW my naive mind and craving for music that gave an atmosphere of Darkness, Evil, and pure fucking rock and roll and preyed upon them.

it's because we went to Singapore, then we bought an Xbox and a pile of games to go with it, then i liked this particular game and this particular character in this game, then i tried to know more about using this character on YouTube, then it so happened that the song being used on one particular video that i viewed was that of Within Temptation, and the rest is history.
so it's because we went to Singapore?

2000. finished watching MI: 2, clicked a special features Icon that said "music video" and discovered Metallica.

heaviest, loudest, most bad-ass shit ever. keep in mind, this was in the time when you all Hate them.

Metallica got me started with metal, they kept me alive and sane, and i don't give a shit if you Hate me for loving all their albums except Master of overrated Puppets.

i am a true Metallica fan for life!

I have to agree. When i was around 5 DAD would play "toxicity" on the CD player. From there i got into Grinspoon, After the fall, Nirvana, Shihad, Spider bait. But it wasnt until DAD brought back a Fear Factory cd from his work, when i was around 10-11. Think it was called "soul of a new machine", and the song "crisis" always hit home with me. that very same year, DAD brought Rammstein's album Sehnsucht (their best in my opinion). THought "the fuck it this" at first. (obviously as it was all in german) But then they just clicked, and Ever Since then i loved them. (Buck Dich my favourite. can remeber DAD and i banging to the start of that song.) Then i found SoM in Grade 8 (14) signed up; thought Core genres were the Shit. (BMTH, IKTPQ, All That Remains). But now, i dont like that stuff much anymore. Old school death, Melodic death/black, Prog (mainly Opeth), sympho, Grunge (Alice In Chains), gothic & Tech death are the genres i "tapped" into. I guess, as you "grow" into metal, you search and find better genres and better bands than before.

(Old man's 47 this year, and he bangs to Children of Bodom. Likes Opeth. so i guess that's where my taste in music originated)

i grew up listening to soul train & old country.  The part of Memphis i ghrew up in was ORANGE MOUND.  i was 1 of 2 white kids in any of my classes ever.  it never bothered me.  No one treated me any different.  My DAD listened to old country, so i listened to it.  in '76 we moved to the 'burbs.  My new friends introduced me to Kiss, Black Sabbath & DEEP PURPLE!  OMG!!!  It...
