You could also try Raventale. Their lyrics aren't very uplifting, but the music itself is.

My Journey to the Stars by Burzum -- that's a pretty uplifting song.

That was!
Also Equilibrium was awesome aswell

is there anything like Taake or Sargiest kind of happy? because there are moments in some of the songs that sound very upliftiing and some may even say "inspirational" also I find that alot of Folk/Viking/Celtic (and even Pagan) Metal sound very uplifing aswell. Stuff like Ensiferum and Wolfchant are some of my favourites. Anything like those?

Wolfchant and Ensiferum are excellent bands, you might wanna check out XIV Dark Centuries or Varg (GER-2)

Wolfchant and ESPECIALLY Ensiferum and Equilibrium aren't Black Metal at all, what the hell. If you're going to give him recs at leats stay within the fucking genre. Might as well start recommending Euro-power, it's uplifting too!

Although I wouldn't call any of the bands that are actually Black Metal on this thread "uplifting", it sounds like you're looking for Finnish-style BM a la Horna and Satanic Warmaster. They sound somewhat similar to Sargeist and Taake.

Also, a lot of NSBM is really uplifting, that whole "white pride" ideology makes their music really grandiose. Fanisk and Temnozor are awesome if you don't mind a lil NS in yo black metal.

FOR THE RECORD: Most Black Metal when held up on its own isn't that uplifting, it's the emotions that you bring when listening to the music that make it uplifting.

yeah, i know Wolfchant and them weren't Black Metal in the slightest, i just mentioned em because he was talkin about folk/viking/pagan metal.
and yeah, alotta NSBM is kinda "peppy" the new Absurd is very much in that same sound

I'm not gonna be too strict with genres here I just want a some kind of folk/pagan/ect. Or maybe something that crosses the two but still has that happy feeling.

Ive tried those already but they just aren't the same for me. 0

Well... the opposite works for me, the music brings emotions to me rather I bring to the music. For example when I'm feeling a little Down or something, I would listen to some happy music (hense the purpose of this thread) and it cheers me up. Its basicly what the artist wants to get across to you (especially in Black Metal).

have you ever listened to Grimburg? they're very similar to em

Wednesday 02 March 2011 - 01:19:38
Grimburg sucks, it's some of the most dull folk-black I've ever heard. don't bother with that shit.

Oh, and mini; I was just giving examples when I rec'd Finnish black metal. If you've already heard the bands and like them, explore the scene further! Darkwoods My Betrothed, Blasphemous Evil, Hell, I could even throw Drowning The Light in there since they're affiliated with a couple people in the Finnish scene, the possibilities are limitless.

And since we're branching out into pagan/folk too (not sure why, Eluveitie and Equilibrium aren't uplifting or happy, it's just vapid shallow fun music) Go for Moonsorrow, as they've still got bits and nibbles of Black Metal in their sound and have these really drawn out, captivating epics.

Taake's "Over Bjoergvin Graater Himmerik" is very happy sounding to me. Check this band/album out if you haven't before; I highly recommend you listen to it.

Vlad Tepe's "Wladimir's March" from their split with Belketre "March to The Black Holocaust" is a really great song in terms of "up-lifting" happy Black Metal.

Lords of the Left Hand's "Reality is in Evil" from the album of the same title, is an amazing song; as put by my friend "D", it sounds like 80's groove metal.

Behexen's "Christ Forever Die" from their album "Rituale Satanum" is not lyrically happy, but the music is such an awesome happy-ish racing sound. This is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands; if you haven't heard of this band before - CHECK THEM THE FUCK OUT!

Also, Gorgoroth's "A World to Win" from their "Incipit Satan" album is a very happy song for me, the guitar riffs make me feel like I'm on some epic ass Crusade and I'm charging on my Chariot smokin' a blunt about to Smash some jews face with a flail. This song is more epic than Lucky Charms with only the marshmellows.

It's a shame that for the most part, Black Metal has a bad reputation for both it's lyrical content and it's audio quality; but if you just accept it as music - it becomes one of the most moving genre's in your life, and quickly.

Hail BLACK METAL! Hail SATAN!
