The Black Album isn't that bad of an album, personally. It's really rife with filler (i'd chuck out like three tracks instantly) and it obviously is a more accessible, 'mainstream' record in general. I still think about half of it is some of the more solid songs Metallica has ever written (particularly "My Friend In Misery", "The Struggle Within", "Through The Never", and even "The Unforgiven") and it probably goes without saying that the production is fantastic.

Now, as for the albums that came after ward... yeah they're not very good as a whole. I actually like some of the individual songs from the Load records, but fuck sitting through them as a whole.

Tl;dr I don't like it that much but I can understand how people would love the album.

NO. NO. No.
WHAT?
No.
I don't get it.
JUSTIFY WHY YOU LIKE IN SORTE Diaboli THAT MUCH.
Like seriously, I have never reviewed a record with such a low rating ever before reviewing In Sorte Diaboli. It's insanely redundant.

Isole - Silent Ruins

Possibly some of the best doom I've heard in awhile, though it's Nothing compared to Candlemass and Cathedral and other big Doom Metal bands. Though it lacks the Evil heavy riffs accompanied with Doom Metal, I think it's still a masterpiece.

Cough - Ritual Abuse

Damn, this LP tales me wayyyy back. This band gave me my first taste of Doom Metal, and even today when i listen to it I never get bored of it.

The Foreshadowing - Days of Nothing.

Yet another Doom Metal masterpiece. The enchanting male vocals always give me vocals, and like The One above me, I never get tired of this.

Druid Lord - Hymns For The Wicked

I'm getting this album in August. This was my first taste of old school death doom with occult influences. Still a Masterpiece with only 3 tracks. It was nice of the vocalist to throw in a button for me.

Skipped a few.

Novembers Doom - Amid it's Hallowed Mirth

Novembers Doom never fails for me. Especially their first album, which is a bit heavier than their earlier stuff. The way the riffs drag on and on and on makes me think the guitarists never pick up their guitar picks; They drag them across the strings. Plus this album shows an excellent example of beauty and The Beast vocals; Female (usually operatic) vocals accompanied with deep growling male vocals.

Novembers Doom - Into The Night's Infernal Requiem

I found this album was a bit more Evil than the rest, what with the album cover and the Evil opening riff to the first track, "Into The Night's Infernal Requiem". All in all this is an amazing album from an amazing band.

Novembers Doom - The Knowing

It's this album that gives me a huge wave of nostalgia everytime I listen to it, especially the Seventh track, "Last God". Some of the tracks here sounded a bit jazzy to me, or something that you'd hear at a poetry club, But that's Novembers Doom for you.

That Cough album is solid. Sounds like Black Sabbath on shrooms, good stuff.

1000 Funerals - Portrait of a Dream

This album introduced me into Funeral Doom Metal. Because of this album I've started to be more open minded about music. I used say that music had to be fast in order to be good but when I realized that I loved this album a lot my opinion seemed to change on about everything. It also changed my opinion on the piano because of the frequent use of
that instrument throughout the album. For example the final Soundtrack consist of
only piano.

Amaseffer - Slaves for life

The only proper way to listen to this album is to listen to it in order instead of picking Random tracks. It's a concept album about the Exodus of the hebrews. If you listen to the tracks in order you get the perfect atmosphere, it feels like your listening to a Heavy Metal musical movie with minimum dialogue. You don't need 24 frames per second in order to see what happens, the atmosphere makes you automatically picture it in your Head but that will only happen if you listen to it in order.

Devil Doll - Dies Irae

Much like the aforementioned album, this album also creates the perfect atmosphere that will make your Head create 24 frames per second in your head. This album made me more open minded about music much like the 1000 Funerals album. Because of this album I've started to enjoy music that would be considered weird by many. Yeah that's right, if you're an everyday guy you will probably consider this album weird but these days I can't see why music could be bad because it's weird, I suppose I've just gotten used to such things.

Equilibrium - Sagas

This is the album that made me discover that you can get an orgasm from music. This epic Masterpiece is so epic that your Head will explode by the epicness but before that happens your neighbours will probably call the police because they think your being raped due to the loud moans. The final Soundtrack 'Mana' is my favourite instrumental Soundtrack of all time and it was my favourite song of all time until Devil Doll arrived in my list.

Hibria - Defying The Rules

Swordfighting with ninjas on motorcycles in a post apocalyptic city? Count me in.? So you might be wondering why a Power Metal album with ninjas on motorcycles appeared all of a sudden after some epic atmospheric stuff? Well, if you know me just a little you probably know that I have a passion for Power metal. Usually Power Metal doesn't go Beyond the 'Great' border for me but this album is without a doubt THE best Power Metal album out there. It has some of the best riffs ever, the solos define awesomeness, the bass is almost more melodic than the lead guitars, the Voice of Iuri Sanson, the vocalist, is one of a god and the list of greatness goes on and on.

Orphaned Land - The Never Ending Way of Orwarrior

Orphaned Land can't make bad albums. It's an unwritten law that says so. Out of all their masterpieces this is the best one. This album has such extreme diversity within the album and even within the songs. The songs progresses so much that if you heard the beginning and the end of a song you wouldn't be able to tell that it was the same song but it flows so perfectly so it doesn't sound like a mess with 50 riffs. This album has one of the most beautiful outros of all time. A beautiful piano melody that lasts throughout the last 2 minutes of the last song that always make me wanna listen to the entire album again.

VNV Nation - Praise The Fallen

This is my favourite non-metal album. VNV Nation is the band that has made the most beautiful music with electronic devices. It's because of this band that I've started to pay attention to lyrics in music. Before I listened to this I didn't care about those things. It seems that I've been very immature about music before I listened to all of these albums which you might be able to tell because of what my music standards used to be. This album also has a hidden soundtrack which is also one of my favourite outros. It consists mainly of piano with some background effects. Have you noticed that I talk a lot about beautiful piano outros? It's because of that 1000 funerals album that changed my opinion about that instrument as I said.

I don't think I've heard anything worse than In Sorte Diaboli before, except Ildjarn's album 'Landscapes'. Now that I mention it, I should review landscapes just to Bitch about the worst album in existence.
But yeah, ISD is the most limp-dicked excuse for metal, let alone Extreme metal I've ever heard. It's incredibly redundant and not one thing is musically satisfying in it, except Vortex's Voice which is horribly placed so it's buried under stupid musicanship. Just try listening to that whole thing in one sitting--it's unbearable.
(Sorry to go off on a rant, but I just Hate that album. Now you've gotten me into the Mood to review Ildjarn's Lanscapes, though...)
