| InfinityZero says : No worries about the editing thing, I just Wanted to point it out 'cause I find more and more people are doing that now. : The women you describe sound like post-modernist hipsters to me, but I can't be sure. There's a Hell of a lot of hair-dying in art circles, for some reason. I don't do that myself; hair dye leads to liver failure :D I don't need to read Varg's bank statement to understand that he wouldn't engage in an actual nationalist Hate group--all I need to do is read a couple of interviews. Remember, he changed the title of Belus from Den Hvite Guden (the white GOD) to Avoid confusion and allegations of racism from people who didn't understand Norse mythology. He talks about his personal family life and farming as high priorities, even over writing and recording music. He's a recluse and doesn't like to be in groups. He even talks about other NS bands being unintelligent and obnoxious. I guess I am making an assumption, but I'm not making it from out of nowhere, either. Honestly, though, I think the only reason NSBM is considered its own genre is due to the pride of the people in the bands wanting everyone to know that they're special, in the same way that unblack Metal bands give themselves their own genre name. On that topic, though, I will never understand why these unblack Metal bands would emmulate the style of black Metal musicians if they were so opposed to the satanism so highly associated with it. |
| InfinityZero says : Frankly, the only case in which I don't believe him is when he contradicts his own philosophy and acts like he's always been the same in that regard, or when he changes his ideology for convenience. As Far as his motivations in writing music go, he's never really changed his story, and since there are yet to be any rumours surfacing about him being in any sort of nationalist society, there's really no reason to believe he is in one. Actually, United States Black Metal is quite distinct, for the most part. Bands like Xasthur and Judas Iscariot have a very distinct sound and style that carries into a lot of USBM bands (and a few Canadian ones). It's just that their style sucks. Then there're bands like Leviathan who sort of break that USBM signature style and twist it to something else, which is what I like. |
| BeyondOsiris says : The US has Agalloch and Wolves In The Throne Room, that's all I need lol And as for a controversial opinion, I think traditional heavy Metal is boring as hell. |

i agree, i would rather listen to punk or Hardcore than bands like ramstein or tool. |

Um, somehow I don't think Rammstein or Tool count as traditional. I think Osiris was talking about the classic stuff like Black Sabbath, in which case I TOTALLY DISAGREE. Love the old stuff. Anyway, USBM wouldn't include Agalloch and stuff like that. As I said, it's stuff in the vein of Xasthur and Judas Iscariot, and, since Osiris brought them up, Wolves in the Throne Room. |
