Hatesphere (VO)

Interview mail avec Jacob Bredahl (chant)

interview Hatesphere1) The first question will be very simple, can you tell us the story of the band?
The band started out in a little Danish village called Odder in 1993. At that time the name of the band was Necrosis, and we played death metal. We ended out recording three demos before we secured a record deal in 2000. At that time most of the original members had been replaced, and we had moved to nearby Aarhus (the second biggest city in Denmark). We then released three full length albums and one mini on Scarlet Records before moving on to SPV/Steamhammer in 2004. In 2005 we released both a mini album and a full length (The sickness within) on SPV. And now the new album.

2) It was your fith album in 6 years, you’re very procductive guy, is it hard for you to fine new idea? If we count the 2 lenght with Allhelluja, you’ve done 7 full lengt in 6 years, youre very very productive. We want your secret 
He he…well I like to be busy I guess. Well you forgot the 4 albums I did with Barcode. That´s my other band where I play guitar. But whatever. I like what I do and don´t like to be bored. And then I love hard music.

3) What can you tell us about your new album Serpent Smiles and Killer Eyes?
We still sound like HateSphere but we have tried out more different ideas this time. Some quite slow and dirty rock parts have sneaked onto the album, and the songwriting has been a bit different. Actually people noticed at our live listening party 7 weeks ago, that the songs at some points ha
interview Hatesphered those very memorable slow parts in them, and that couldn´t be that bad, hehe. It´s funny because we have written some of the most brutal HateSphere songs to date but at the same time incorporated those slower parts, and it works great. We are still thrash and actually have some death metal parts on the album as well, so you can expect a quite interesting album here. Apart from that the cover and the title also are a bit different, for the better, this time. Not so typical us, not so straight forward, but a bit spooky, if you can say so.

4) I’ve found it more darker than The Sikness Within, are you agree with that opinion?
Everything is a bit more dark and creepy this time. The thing is that you have to listen to more than 1 or 2 songs to judge this album. Every songs have it´s own little story to tell music wise.

5) What can you tell us about the lyrics of Serpent Smiles and Killer Eyes?
Same old same old… ha ha.. It´s all about Death and Destruction. And about drinking.

6) Why did you choose this title for this new record?
It popped up in my brain some day, and I thought it sounded good. You can decide for yourself what it means. Could be how the world is these days. Or about women…whatever.

7) My favorite song is “Drinking with the King of the Dead”, but what is yours and why?
That´s one of my favourites too. It´s a very non typical HateSphere song. But I like all the tracks…As said, then all song
interview Hatespheres are different, so it´s hard to make that choice for me.

8) Now with 5 full lenght, do you want to realise a live record or a DVD?
No, I think we will wait with that till later. On the new CD there is a DVD included with all kind of live stuff and stuff from the studio and so on.

9) When will you come back in France for a new gigs?
Soon I hope! I love France! We played 2 of our best shows ever there! Hellfest last year and the show at Trabendo with Chimaira and DT. That show was fuckin killer! Woohoo! We will hopefully be back already in June – but nothing is sure yet.

10) The question will be more personnal. What’s your favorite band?
AC/DC is one of them for sure. Exhorder is another one. And if I should pick a French band, then Gojira. They are a really good band.

11) Can you tell us one of you favorite memory with the band, good or bad?
HHhhmmm…there is so many memories, that it is hard to keep track of which one is the best. Again I must say that the Trabendo show in Paris was one of the best shows ever.

12) My website is call Spirit Of Metal, but what is the Spirit Of Metal for you?
The spirit of metal is good vibes, good fun and brutal music.

13) The last words are yours..........
Check out the new album. And be prepared for or our comeback to France. www.hatesphere.com Cheers Jacob
