Биография : Wrathage

The year 1997 Scythe and D.V Grim started Wrathage with the goal to create black metal that the band itself would be satisfied with and to make songs they would like to play live.

The original line-up was made of mostly from close friends and not many of us could actually play that well at that moment:

D.V Grim - Guitar

Scythe - Guitar

Jani Hurme - Bass

Olli-Jukka Mustonen (Catamenia, Dorotha) - Vocals

Tero Nevala (National napalm syndicate, Dorotha, Catamenia) - Keyboards

Mika Pakonen – Drums

The first couple of years the band was looking for a good line-up and during 1999 D.V Grim embarked on another venture as a vocalist for Thrash act The unblessed where he met a former Thyrane guitarist Joni Kylätie (Hornanvasara) and persuaded him to join WRATHAGE as a drummer. D.V Grim also met Jukka “E agonos” Ylisuvanto (later known as Koba Satana and at the moment it's just Koba) through school and found out he was into Black metal and persuaded him to join Wrathage as a Vocalist. Soon E agonos found out he was more interested in playing drums and moved to northern Finland, but up to today he is still writing lyrics to WRATHAGE. During that era D.V Grim and Scythe experimented with some atmospheric and darker black metal, influenced strongly by Ved buens ende and Burzum's Filosofem and from that “As night falls” was started but unfortunately it is still unfinished and will probably be finished some day. Those songs have nothing to do with actual Wrathage that plays live.

Kylätie also playd guitar at Soulhammer (Formerly known as Downfall) where Janne Kusmin was playing drums and after Kusmin moved to Oulu Kylätie introduced him to rest of Wrathage and that way the training got all started up, back at the beginning of the millenium. Marko “Chaos” Heikkinen followed soon after Kusmin and the present line-up has trained together ever since, from which finally “anNihil[N]ation” has emerged. Kusmin is also a member of KALMAH, SOULHAMMER and played drums on CATAMENIA's Eskhata and quit the band shortly after the release. Both Scythe and D.V Grim also run the Death Metal band GUT FEAST, which will be continued someday.

anNihil[N]ation is the first studio recording and official release from Wrathage. The songs in the album were composed from 1999 to 2003, so the material has had the time to mature. Earlier homestudio recordings have been available and spread to certain people, but unfortunately to so very few.

Wrathage whipped themselves ready for live-performances throughout the year 2004 and played as a support for DISMEMBER at Hevimesta, Oulu 22.1.2005. The live-DVD “Annihilating” was shot at this gig and was sold out in a few months.

After many great responses from the media for anNihil[N]ation in 2005, Wrathage started the recordings of their second official promo “Black Light Zodiac” with A.Lindholm (Lambs, The duskfall) engineering the sounds. The recordings took about 5 months and the promo was released at the Jalometalli 2005 metal festival, Oulu. So far the promo has been conquering the media regardless of the nationality and the band is hoping it will finally get some labels interested. “Black Light Zodiac” introduced more death metal elements in Wrathage production and the promo ended up as a real killer.

In August 2005 Wrathage continued their devastating live shows in Jalometalli metal festival, with headliners such as Exmortem, Dissection and Entombed. The gig was once again shot and will be released as a DVD late 2005 or early 2006.

Chaos left the band in November 2005 due to lack of time and Wrathage is looking for a replacement guitarist at the moment.

All Wrathage's past, present and future releases are still without a publisher and the band is looking for a partner for distribution of their releases and selling gigs. Let us know if you're interested.

The History, what the Hell! We're making it, so look forward for updates!
