Voice in the Dark formed during the summer of 2010 with Stewart Hidalgo (guitar), Dan Mena III (bass), and Alfred Jasso (drums) in Los Angeles, CA. Stewart and Dan met 10 years ago and played together in a band for the next 6 years. They found Alfred through a craigslist ad. Alfred, an El Paso, TX native, had just finished studying drums at the Musical Institute in Hollywood. They quickly began writing material together, but parted ways with their first vocalist after only a few months. The trio soldiered on and wrote enough material for an EP and, in late 2010, started pre-production on their debut, "Hell's Horizon". Meanwhile, the search for a vocalist continued. After fine tuning the music the band started tracking the record, which was produced and engineered by Stewart. As the tracking for the EP came to a close they finally found their vocalist in Jacob Craner. He immediately came into the studio pulling double duty with screams and clean vocals. He also assisted with the programing in the record. The first release off the EP was "Depthless Faces" in late 2011. The record was available in January 2012 for purchase on itunes and several other digital stores. At the same time the band began to perform through out Southern California. Currently the band has been holed up working on a new sound and direction for their next release. Their first new song, "Cryogen," will be made available late summer with a new EP shortly their after.
