Thiermes is a finnish pagan metal act, formed in 1999 by Qraken and Kromm under the name Funeral Oath. The band has this far released two demos, "Kun Kirves Ristin Veisti (2005)" and "MMVI (2006)". Both of these are Funeral Oath releases, as the band changed it's name to Thiermes at winter of 2008.

After it's birth in 1999, the band has gone through some line-up changes, yet nowadays has found a stable, working 5-piece line-up. The first line-up change was when Kromm left the band at year 2000. At that point Funeral Oath was put into ice, yet was reunited at 2001, and Idunn joined the band as a synth player. Two bass players attempted to fill Kromm's place, namely Teuvo and Tuomas, yet bands co-operation didn't work too well with either one of them. At 2004, just when the band had finished recording "Kun Kirves Ristin Veisti" Kromm was asked to rejoin the band and agreed.

2006 saw the coming of a two-track demo "MMVI", and at 2008, in the middle of the recordings of their first full-length album, Funeral Oath decided to change it's name to Thiermes (after Lapponian thunder god).
