Биография : Tears

Crystal Tears is a speed/power metal band from Thessaloniki, Greece formed in September '97. Their activities during that period were lots of concerts in metal meetings and festivals. In June '98 the band underwent some changes in its formation. The vocalist, the rhythm guitarist and the bassist left the band. However, in August '98 a solid line-up was formed by: Michael Glanias - vocals, keyboards, George Zaimis - lead guitars, Kimon Pantelidakis - rhythm guitars, Stelios Papadopoulos - bass guitar, Chrisafis Tantanozis - drums (Necessary to mention that Kimon used to play lead guitars before the change). Crystal Tears entered the studio in September '98 to record their debut CD ''Skies of Eternity''. Their work was released in January '99. The sales of the CD have been going very well and their activities to promote their work have been numerous indeed. Many concerts were given with a lot of success and they came in contact with many magazines, 'zines and people who were dealing with underground. More precisely, they have taken very good reviews on their work from popular magazines of Greece and other countries. Many 'zines from different parts of the world came in contact for reviews and interviews. Some guys that make compilations and some other distributors and promoters showed interest in their music as well. They have been also receiving lots of letters and e-mails from all over the world writing very warm words for their music. Their songs are being played in metal clubs and in radio stations inside and outside Greece. One can see their CD in the front window of popular metal stores. Noteworthy is the fact that the Italian record company Underground Symphony came in contact with them, but there was no contract signed after all. Moreover, the German distributing company Hellion Records was interested in distributing the band's work. And lastly, a journalist of a popular metal magazine of Greece voted ''Skies of Eternity'' as one of the best 20 albums of the year '99. So, in January '00 Crystal Tears entered the studio to record a promo CD with 2 new songs. The CD was released in July '00. Nevertheless, just a couple of months before the CD's release the lead guitarist, George Zaimis, had to leave the band. Fortunately, his substitute was found quick enough under the face of Dimitris Goutziamanis. They now have new vocalist George Klokelis (ex-Llaurel Path and Charade), whose vocal school is the Geoff Tate (Queensryche) one. In addition, the band has completed the songs for the next full-length album. They will probably go in the studio in Christmas period. For the moment they are very busy with the new vocalist. About a label contract there is nothing going on yet.
