Svartkrist was formed in the beginning of 1998. At this time, the line-up was constituted of Morgios playing the guitars and Gutscrusher on the drums. There were also a bass player but he was quickly kicked out due to his lack of motivation for the band. Smaug joined the band a bit later to do the vocals. After this, they started to write songs with the aim of composing raw and fast Black Metal songs. The songs were at this time very simple and consisted only of two or three riffs during the whole song. They rehearsed more and more since this time and they even found another bass player. But, he wasn"t neither very interested in the music of Svartkrist. They decided to continue as a three-head band and they began composing more mature songs; meaning that they simply thrown out some songs which didn"t fulfill their expectations anymore.
Since November 1998, they"re searching for gigs to play everywhere. They played some gigs in the end of 1998 and in 1999, but now, their intention is to spread their music beyond the borders of Wallonia. From the month of May, it seems that everything is bursting out for Svartkrist : they will be featured in some zines, on some compil tapes and some gigs are announced after summer 1999. They have a website and they"re now preparing their debut demo which will be released on tape by the French tape-label Chanteloup Creations and on a split-CD with the butal death-metallers of Charleroi, Katassamalass.
Svartkrist is now ready to attack on every front : gigs, zines, compilations and all kind of stuff that may help them to spread their music in the underground scene.
