Биография : Sepultura

Sepultura was formed in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 1983 by the brothers Igor and Max Cavalera who were only 14 and 15 years old at that time. The other two original members were Paulo Jr. and Jairo T. Jairo T. left the band in April 1987 and was replaced by Andreas Kisser. The word 'sepultura' is Portuguese for grave and as everyone probably knows they speak Portuguese and not Spanish in Brazil. In 1985 they recorded a split album with fellow countrymen Overdoes but the album, called "Bestial Devastation" was not distributed well and was of poor quality. In 1986 their first solo album "Morbid Visions" was released. In 1989 the band was noticed by Monte Conner of Roadrunner Records and this was the beginning of the journey to fame for them. Their album "Arise" (1991) became the best selling album ever in the history of Roadrunner Records. In 1997 Max left the band to form the band Soulfly and he was replaced by Derrick Green.
