Preference was formed in late 2002, and from day one have played peak performances at venues up and down the East Australian coastline. The combined talents of Carlos Hurworth (Vocals), Nathan Rye (Guitar), Timothy Tyler (Guitar/Vox), nicKo widdabigkay (bass), and Chris O'Neill (drums), make up the heart, soul and psyche of this heavy hitting quintet. After a short writing period, Preference hit the live metal scene head on in 2003, and played almost 30 shows in less than 8 months. Armed with two demo CDs, and a strong following, Preference headed to Sydney Canberra to spread the disease in early 2004. Preference have recently finished their debut EP ‘Greed Death Time Money' and are negotiating distribution deals.


Preference are an extremely hard working band, playing many gigs at venues up and down the East coast of Australia, including shows in Sydney, Canberra, Newcastle, Wollongong, Lismore and Byron Bay. Preference are regulars to both the Sunshine and Gold Coasts in Queensland, as well as attracting a large and varied crowd to all local gigs. With Preference playing alongside international and interstate bands such as COG, 8ft Sativa, Full Scale, Tourettes, Blood Duster, Japunga, Devolved and Flesh Mechanic, their fan base is ever expanding.

Preference has hundreds of hours of studio time and experience, and as a result, has produced an amazing debut EP, entitled ‘Greed Death Time Money'. After beginning pre-production in April 2004, Preference has assessed and arranged six hard-hitting tracks for their debut. The EP has been produced and recorded by award winning producer and Queensland University of Technology Sound Design lecturer Yanto Browning (M Mus). After conducting extensive market research, Preference has taken promotion to a new level, with 100 professionally minted coins, displaying the bands logo and name, to be sold with the first 100 CDs. The coin will become seminal to Preference's EP launch, giving die-hard fans cheaper rates on merchandise with presentation of the coin. The coin is also the central theme in the artwork for ‘Greed Death Time Money', as the insert mural was painted around the theme of coin production.
