The band saw the light in the summer of '97, when Federico Vitelli met Vittorio Rizzo.

After some months they achieved a three-members line up, but they were still without a singer and a bass player. In the beginnings, the music they played was heavily influenced by bands like Dark Tranquillity and In Flames; the music they proposed was a sort of Swedish death metal, really hard and aggressive.

Two years later, both the singer and the bass player left the band; Luca Zontini (bass) and Simone (drums) joined in, gaving birth to the first stable line up.

A couple of months later Federico pushed Luca to try singing, revealing an unbelievable talent. In the mean time Simone left In Depth because of musical divergences, and Riccardo Di Cesare became the new drummer: no choice could be more appropriate.

After a brief experiment with a female singer, Vittorio decided to take a different musical direction, so in 1999 the band found a substitute in Paolo Scala, a talented guitarist friend of Luca.

This will be the decisive and definitive turn that'll lead the band to its actual form.

With a new lead guitarist together with Federico, In Depth's musical richness inreased radically, mainly because of the different styles and harmonycal approaches that characterize all of the four musicians, everyone with his personal and intimate conception of making music and expressing himself.
In March 2004 they finally ended the recordings of their first Promo-tape named "Genista/Ginst", which includes three songs and a video clip of the band playing live.
