In the cold winter of 1998 anno bastardi the battlemachine HROSSHARSGRANI formed for their first hit in shape of the reh./demo-CD Blut. In the beginning HROSSHARSGRANI wandered the worlds of dark ambient music to tell stories of creatures that walked by night, the undead, the vampyres. He paid tribut to the bloody heritage of Lord Byron and Bram Stoker. More demo-CDs followed soon, but the battles were fought with barbaric and hymnic black metal.
"Der Pfad Zum Tor Der Toten" and "Ancient Tales" asked their share of blood and marked the finale of these ancient ages. In the beginning of 2000 he dared a further, giant step. He entered the halls of CCP studios to record the debut CD/LP Of...". Battles and choirs invite the listener on a journey through long forgotten times full of myths and legends. With this masterpiece Fylgja Munin and Hugin laid the basis for a new age of creations.
A musical journey far off the trampled paths of metallic art was the basis for a deal with CCP Records. An alliance that paid off for HROSSHARSGRANI in every further battle. In the beginning of the following year the army of HROSSHARSGRANI started their work for "The Secret Fire" - an epic tale based on J.R.R. Tolkiens Lord Of The Rings" and "The Silmarillion". A concept which allows to flee from the grey everyday life to a better, glorious world full of magic and wonders. Classical melodies combined with the iron rough edges of metal marched on a crusade through middle earth. Fylgja Munin Hugin were there to tell of mystical, enchanted woods, of fire-breathing dragons whose wings conquer the clouds, of gleaming swords of the kingodms of the north and of the power, that finds it"s true strength within dark battles.
The year 2003 - blood freezes in the veins at the sound of clenching steel, a further, more giant battle is fought. The way of the warrior is sealed, created out of flesh and steel, baptized in fire and ice the warlord HROSSHARSGRANI rises with iron force to fight his battle in the land of shadows. Symphonic metal hymns, mystic and bombastic battlechoirs lead you to deadly moors, rise up high in the sky and chase the dark creatures through enchanted woods. Mighty guitar riffs, wardrums, cymbals and fanfares build a symphony like the ride of a valkyrie.
HROSSHARSGRANIs third work is again a well-done symbiose of heroic battle hymns and radio-play-like passages full of mystic characters. An epic tale that crosses the borders of known arts in a world beyond, where flesh, steel and courage not yet lie hidden in the shadows. "Schattenkrieger" is a new ode to war, a further manifest of the violence of the sword, an album which will attract every single metal warrior.

Vikar and his men landed on an island to rest. When time to leave had come, there was no wind and the warriors had to wait day after day for the opportunity to head for the open sea. Finally they only knew a one last solution in their desperate situation. They promised Odin a human sacrifice. The rolled the dice - and fate chose Vikar! All men were embarassed and decided to wait for the next morning in order to discuss what had to be done.
In the night Starkad was waked and before him stood HROSSHARSGRANI a man, who once saved his life. He asked Starkad to follow him and on his little boat the rowed to a small piece of land just before the island. They went in a little wood where everything was prepared for a Thing. Twelve chairs stood there, eleven were occupied, the twelth was empty. HROSSHARSGRANI sat down on this twelth seat and all the people greeted him as Odin, so Starkad knew at once, who brought him here.
