Биография : Falconer

When the band Mithotyn dissolved in 1999, mastermind and guitarist Stefan Weinerhall went on to form what would later become Falconer, with the same kind of melodies and epic lyrics. But this time his mind was set on a clear-voiced singer. After a while a demo was recorded and Mathias Blad was found to do the vocals as a session member. The demo was well recieved and a contract with Metal Blade was signed. Shortly after, Stefan's old Mithotyn pal Karsten joined on drums. Finally in November 2000 the band entered Los Angered Studio with Andy LaRocque behind the desk. The debut album, entitled "Falconer", was released in May. The response to the album was better than the band had expected, getting very high ratings in most reviews despite the lack of live promotion.
Exactly one year after their first visit they returned to Los Angered they returned to record "Chapters from a vale forlorn" which was released in March 2001. That summer the band played at Wacken, Rockmachina and Bang Your Head. This was a big start for a band that hadn't ever played live before. Falconer realized that they could not continue to turn down offers for other tours, but having seen Mathias' schedule for the next year they learned that he would not have much time for anything else than his main occupation. They decided that if they wanted to take the offers that were coming in, they had to get a new vocalist. In November 2003 they found Kristoffer Göbel, also the vocalist in the band Destiny, and released "Sceptre of Deception".

After a small tour throughout Europe, more problems soon occurred as Anders and Peder left/got fired from the band, leaving no one in the band dissatisfied with the decision. A local bass player called Magnus Linhardt was found in June, and a superb guitarist by the name of Jimmy Hedlund joined the band in September.

The new album "Grime Vs. Grandeur" was recorded between December 2004 and January 2005. During the production everything started feeling more focused again. With Stefan now sharing the songwriting duties with Kristoffer, who was responsible for about 25% of the music, he made sure only top notch material would surface on the album. He also left the lyrics to Kristoffer in order to focus on what he liked most - creating epic power metal!
