Encorion is a five headed folk metal horde from the Netherlands. Raised from the ashes of old bands and projects, Encorion found its origin in winter 2007. Danny created Encorion as a side project, in which he tried to write some songs with a subtle influence of traditional folk music. In little time, Danny had enough material to record the basic idea of what Encorion should sound like. With help of Michael, cousin and band member in earlier bands, drums were programmed, and guitars and bass were recorded. Having heard the result, Danny decided a band should be formed.

Having played in various bands before with his cousins Raymond and Michael, Danny did not hesitate to ask, and they both joined Encorion. Raymond wrote the lyrics and took care of the growls. Michael would play the bass, as he already did on the demo tracks. Then, a drummer had to be found. After a while, Jark made his appearance and everything was set for the first rehearsal. They were glad to see such an enthusiastic drummer and the first rehearsal was a success. Something was missing though. The sound of Encorion missed something that was there in the first demo tracks Danny made. The idea of a violin player came up. Luckily, Danny knew about a violin player who wanted to play in a metal band, and contacted her. When Tessa entered Encorion they knew that it was exactly what they missed.

Encorion was ready to enter the stage. After having played a couple of gigs, they decided to record their debut album. Two weeks of non-stop recording in Studio Phonology brought the result of Encorions debut “Facing History and Ourselves”. Up until now, they haven’t found a record label to release their album, but in the meantime, Encorion will be conquering the stages and putting their name on the map of the folk metal scene.
