Биография : Ekasia

Ekasia was formed under the name of Mysterium in December 1996 as a side project of Fulmineos. In 1997, the first demo "Templum Tenebrum" was released, a strange work of occult dark music. In 1998 the second demo was released, "Odes pro malis ingenis", this time more ambiental dark music, also with a session female vocalist.

After that, the project took a break until the end of 1999 when a new member was added this time as a full-time, under the name of Kjuczen. In 2000, the debut mini-album, "Umbre si reflexe" saw the light of the moon, under the new name Ekasia. The material had a bad promotion due to the fact that at that time they were very busy with several other artistic projects, so they didn't had the time to search for a label, it was released by themselves but it was inefficiently promoted even if it contained for that time a very original sound for the industrial black noise scene. It was released with this line-up: Fulmineos (keyboards and vocals) and Kjuczen (keyboards and programming). The material was more into German electro scene: early Lacrimosa and Umbra et Imago, Calva Y Nada.

After four years of silence, Fulmineos decided to record the first album, alone due the fact that Kjuczen is now very busy with his art/photography/visual projects and kind of left the musical scene. "Midwinter Ricketiness" is certainly a shock for the people that listened the past materials, being more aggressive and industrial, expressing a sadistic violence towards Christianity and the normal common society. Musically speaking it was influenced by artists such as Diabolos Rising / Raism, Beherit, Einstürzende Neubauten and the urban factory-like environment. The album was recorded in Ras Alhage Studios in February 2005 by Fulmineos, and released by the Australian label Smell the Stench.

After this "world-wide” debut many persons became interested by the violent sound Ekasia promoted which was quite a pleasant surprise for it's creator... also some persons involved in this scene interacted with Fulmineos and this led to a split with a true legend in this scene, Croatian band Gruuthaagy. This material entitled "Sarkany, Heart of Darkness" was a bit slower, more to industrial ambient directionated this time, a "personal" struggle into machines, a very cold release. Then came the most ambitious project ever made by Fulmineos, "Five Steps to Hell" three hours of permanent torture released as always by the same Australian label, Smell the Stench in mp3 format and with a very occult video-play made by a very talented person and personal friend, Dr. Winter. The material was composed since 2003 but there were several stages when all was interrupted because of several topics, basically the lack of time and other priorities were the most frequent issues. But in the end of spring 2006, Fulmineos managed to finish the whole concept and unleashed the unholy noise!

The winter of 2006 was a decade spent by Fulmineos serving to this occult dimension of strange dark noise, and the Ukrainian label De Profundis offered an opportunity for a special CD; and out of this "Ashes" was born as a tribute to the first Ekasia material that wasn't quite known in the scene, and also "Midwinter Ricketiness" deserved a CD release after all...

After this, Fulmineos decided to release the 3rd full-album only as a net release through the same label as always Smell the Stench; a total anti-commercial attitude and in perfect agreement with the concept of the band: to infest this world with "Hybrid Scorn" by the most accessible way of our time: downloading! This idea come in perfect harmony with the futuristic concepts of this project: "Through the Vortex" kind of type and the industrial black/death musical approach... just to get the right picture this time the musical influences are around Mysticum, Diabolicum, Aborym or Red Harvest... and the lyrical themes are around satanism, brutal war and landscapes of deserted factories.

"The Continuous Ellipse" was a mini-cd including three tracks that at that time were searching for a new sound of expression, it is a necessarily release without it maybe Ekasia wouldn’t have continued because "Hybrid Scorn" was a good album but maybe not in the right direction, so there were some confused ideas about the future. It was like a regeneration of thoughts, maybe not immediately when Fulmineos recruited a new line-up and began working for the forth album but after it’s release of this new material.

So "Underground Ghosts" comes after a long sound odyssey procession and brings new dimensions to the music and also enlarges the line-up of the project.
There were strong convulsions on witch this material was made, at one point there were also some other persons involved as two guitarists, a drummer and a bassist were tested but when the recordings actually began Fulmineos took credits for all the instruments and recordings as he was not satisfied with their play or involvement into the project.

After that talking with his long-time friend and band mate (from Cursed Cemetery), Hecter they decides that his voices suits very well into the whole concept so Fulmineos shared the lyrical concept and Hecter did a beautiful job laying perfect clean vocals, distorted callings and chilly bleak feelings.
The mixing and mastering was done in Negura Studios Timisoara and the final tasks were finalized in another private session studio in Bucharest.

The new sound we can call it industrial electronic dark ambient as Ekasia is after all this years doing again something else, a more modern and innovative approach, a cinematic outside this world call where strange creatures and weird delusional states of mind agonize at the edge of sanity and beyond reasonable understanding...

And so once again Ekasia succeeded reinventing itself on the firmament of dark sound with a more mature approach based on a professional sound and concept.
The title of the CD is sort of a tribute to a beautiful book entitled "Underground" written by an unknown writer from Timisoara, Vladimir Stefan Petrescu; its strong influential subjects/stories ended up in a total surprise of its content and quality that Fulmineos decided to add its title as a respect and recognition to it’s initial "Ghosts" idea, that underline the other part of the concept written for this material: some personal experiences about deep dark depressing things life’s toys when everything is (un)controllable...
