Bobadela, Lisbon based Gothic Metal act Blackfeather was originally conceived as the Death Metal band CRUELTY in early 1997. As the group evolved to incorporate Death-Doom and Gothic persuasions, along with the recruitment of keyboard player Pedro Domingues, the revised title of Blackfeather was adopted during 1998. Vasco would take this role the following year in time for recording of an eponymous, four song EP produced by Paulo Vilares in November 1999.

Blackfeather cut their version of MOTÖRHEAD's 'Love Me Like A Reptile' for a tribute album in 2000. The debut album, 'Dreaming in the Vastness Found', arrived in 2002.
