Биография : Andromeda (SWE)

Digging for gold in the metal underground can be quite a strenous activity. But sometimes all you got to do is check the mailbox. One grey and rainy day WAR Music (now New Haven Records) hit the jackpot when the Andromeda demo found its way into our sweaty palms. Suddenly, (black) sunshine was all around!
Andromeda is a metal galaxy, complex and multi-faceted, Andromeda goes from full blast to more mellow moments augmented by breath-taking keyboard tinkling, supported by the organic rhythm section. Add guitar solos from outer space and the end result is simply stunning.

Andromeda took shape in June 1999, but the planned recording sessions for a massive debut album were constantly postponed, simply because no suitable vocalist was found. The quest for a vocalist seemed almost endless, especially when one vocalist was asked to leave the day before Andromeda was to enter Dug-Out Studios, were producer Danne Bergstrand was all set to go. In a fit of both panic and depression (well, almost...), WAR called multi-talented Lawrence Mackrory (ex-Darkane) and asked him to handle the vocal duties. Without having heard neither music nor lyrics, Lawrence immediately stepped into the studio, did a sterling job as a session member and "Extension Of The Wish" finally made it to the master tape. Yes, just like that!

But this was not the ultimate solution, Andromeda still needed a permanent singer. The band luckily came in contact with David Fremberg. Suddenly the problem was solved, Andromeda now had a permanent singer.

With "Extension of the wish" the band got noticed around the world as a new force to be counted with. Soon they began working on material for their second album - "II=I", the album that takes it all one step further. The recordings began in November 2001 and continued on until August 2002 with a result that will blow your mind away. Bass player Gert Daun decided to leave the band as they came home from a short tour of France. So filling the void on the new album, Johan recorded all the bass. A permanent replacement for Gert will soon be written into the history of Andromeda.
