To those now eternally damned, I was given the charge of relaying to you the licentious proliferation of the cult doom metal entity Aldebaran. As I write this, I feel the strands of myself succumbing to it. It came to my attention in 2003 when a trio of metal fiends first felt the emanations from the dog star, Sirius, home of that which shan't be named. Devotees of the dark arts and darker fictions, they fell right in with the depraved droning doom of these emanations and christened themselves, Aldebaran, for the dread star of its origins. Aldebaran immediately established themselves as a standout act blending the sonic aesthetics of black metal and the meat of the most virulent doom metal acts with the glacial and epic song structures of the likes of Corrupted, Asunder Grief, and Earth; with the lyrical influence of that dread star and the Great Old Ones. I slavishly became addicted to their undulating madness and I found myself faced by names and music that I had heard elsewhere in the most hideous of connections in rituals of hellish sonic abandon. They shared the stage with the likes of: HIGH ON FIRE, LUDICRA, ASUNDER, UNEARTHLY TRANCE, NACHTMYSTIUM, KEEN OF THE CROW, LAS CRUCES, UNHOLY GRAVE, ZOROASTER, L'ACEPHALE, GRAVES AT SEA, and SKELETONWITCH to name but a few. Hitherto, a 7” ep “Pleasures Of War”, a split cd with Rue, a split 12” lp with Sod Hauler have paved the path for their monumental first LP “Dwellers In Twilight.” In 2007, a second guitarist joined to heighten the infernal offerings and elevate the already monumental live presence. 2008 promises even more utter sonic destruction and ignoble alliances: "Dwellers In Twilight" 12" Blind date records (Ger) ALDEBARAN/ UNEARTHLY TRANCE split 7" Raven's Eye Records (US) ALDEBARAN/ ZOROASTER split 7" Kreation Records (US) ALDEBARAN "....From forgotten tombs" 12" Kreation records (US) ALDEBARAN new full length 12"/cd Aldebaran are known entities in other infernal acts of musical sedition; of their cult, they claim membership of the blasphemous: SPLATTERHOUSE, THE HOWLING WIND, EALDATH, WEREWOLFKORPS, ROANOKE, and SHADOW OF THE TORTURER. I feel that this may be my last breath of reason to come to my mind… even as I write… I fall in and out of the sway of that dread star Aldebaran. The mad ravings of the Providence writer reverberate in time with the intonations of vile guitars, fiendish vocals, bestial bass, sordid drums and cosmic horror… “The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should wander far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”
