Not just another band preaching how you must live your life, to get to a safe place when you die... To practice than to preach, to ask a sensible question rather than give a foolish answer...the desire to know your own destinity. Determined to go places and meet people who can help them to develope their characters, they started their journey in the summer of 2001. When vocalist and guitarplayer joined forces at a local bar situated in the town of Aalst... searching for the right people was not needed, because Bart knew who would be the right man behind the drumsection... shortly after, Max joined the band and made a crushing impact by creating the drive of A SWITCH BELOW.

Since it was hard to find a bassplayer who would and could play the kind of extreme metal we wanted to... we waited for the last ingredient. Taking this shit serious we started rehearsing and write our first songs. It wasn't until three years of searching ,we found our last member. The last nail in the bomb and the fire on the molotov... we were ready to take on the world.

A SWITCH BELOW is a concept, a thing everyone must do once in a lifetime...the ritual of becoming human and experiencing decay, a decision made by nobody but yourself. Many have asked what the name stands for... it could be anything... an abstract form of fear, maybe the decision of abortion or maybe a tool to use to get to the darkest places of human existence. An unknown switch... where does it leads? What will happen when you use it? Is it a friend or foe? WILL YOU PULL IT?
