Lacey Sturm, originally named Lacey Nicole Carder, was born in Belton, Texas, and raised in Arlington. Due to her family's financial struggles, Lacey had a tumultuous childhood filled with frequent moves and conflicts with her mother. She started experimenting with drugs, including heroin, at a young age. Despite her troubled upbringing, Lacey showcased her singing talent and played the electric bass from the age of 14. The fights with her mother became so severe that the police had to intervene multiple times, leading Lacey to move to Gulfport, Mississippi, to live with her grandparents. During her time at Gulfport High School, she joined a band called Sofa Kingdom as a bass player but later left due to communication issues and negative vibes. Lacey's challenging circumstances and impoverished living conditions prompted her to feel dissatisfied with life.
