This music is great for recreation whether you want just relax or destroy the whole humanity

Imagine the most recent popular mainstream trends when it comes to hard&heavy genre and mix them in a very likeable but still not selling out way. This is exactly what EP The Chosen sounds like.

What I mean by likeable is more music for huge masses. So if you are a fan of deep and melancholic stuff, then plug your ears and carefully disappear, because this is the true filtering of rage and disgust. But this doesn’t mean you have to be a raging adolescent to appreciate this music. Yes, these songs are perfect for letting yourself out and yes, it is something made to headbang in angst while listening but well, let’s confess it, isn’t listening to someone complaining also a good way to abreact?

To the music itself, saying that this EP was made of only easy and simple elements would be highly unfair. Many musicians and bands use the hottest topics and musical trends to hide the lack of skills but this is not the case. Listening to this release doesn’t feel like a waste of time at all and the melodies pass by in modern spirit and with youthful energy.
The guitar riffs and solos are fast and striking and what’s more, they are very catchy and the melodic parts are not a bit worse. The basses support the rhythm created by smashing drums and when it comes to the vocals, you get there everything. Clean vocals, shouting, screaming – they are all filled with energy and are perfectly complementary to each other. Which brings the question What about lyrics?

From the very beginning you can hear a proof that this band is not going to be unnecessarily polite when it comes to the message they want to share. Nor religion nor politics are going to be spared and the satiety of human race and all the vices literally springs through your pores after listening to those songs. The fury isn’t anyhow allusive but the phrases used in the lyrics are surprisingly witty and the thoughts are much deeper than only usually pubertal “fuck the world, it sucks”.

Using the digitalizing effects is also entertaining and the ideas like the TV or radio emission are not that unusual but still always interesting to listen to. I cannot say this sure, but also I believe you can hear all four members in the last part of Negotiating with the Arbiter which is another feature which if you realize, you cannot stop concentrating on every single time you hear the song. And honestly, this is what in my view is the best was to grab the attention of the listener. And whether the band makes these little details on purpose or just use their ideas, in both ways it works perfectly and sounds leisurely.

So to sum up, this release has a great potential to enchant many not only young people since Patterns is the band which even though only started showing its potential, the results already very impressive. And you don’t have to be mad about the world to appreciate the way this band shows its views. Lay back or headbang, this music is great for recreation whether you want just relax or destroy the whole humanity.
