Scars of
Silence have recently released this EP, a pretty brutal cocktail of death metal and hardcore riffing. They are yet another good young deathcore band to come from Germany, with some cracking tracks on this release.
What you get with Scars of
Sacrifice is a young, no nonsense deathcore band, with less of the usual mega breakdowns that other deathcore bands tend to favour; instead they take a more traditional death metal attack and couple the odd breakdown in when necessary (see the crushing end to 'The
Ballad of Nathan Gale'). However, they are not afraid to show off touches of Gothenburg influences, with closing track, '
Beneath the Surface', ripe to bursting with melodic guitar leads. They sound much more
Soilwork here than
Suicide Silence, however the latter is more apparent on opening track 'All
Life Extinguished'.
What the band have done is mix up musical styles to create a bit of variety in their music, which hopefully would separate them from the pack. Time of course will tell in that case, but I can't see how a band that can mix early
In Flames, new
Entombed and
All Shall Perish into one brutal cocktail of metal and have it work, fail to be popular in years to come.
