One song, just under twenty minutes in length is the first release from this band, PTAHIL. Expecting the song to be some ridiculous keyboard mood music, I was rather pleasantly surprised to find the contrary.

Dies Irae! begins & ends with guitars being plugged in & out (at the end), exclamation the start & conclusion of the piece of music like a punk rock zen gong. A Gregorian Choir comes in reverse to hit the first note that completely decimates everything leaving a clear slate for the rest of the song. Very excellent doom riffs that would send shivers up the spine of Tony Iommi. Rather than having the 18 minutes go by with riff after riff in some Deathspell Omega kinda way, PTAHIL keeps the song locked down to maybe 5 or 6 riffs. But, 5 or 6 excellent riffs, that I can't fully say are minimalistic, but rather inventive. The song picks up into a blast around the 14:40 mark, giving the drums room for some nice fills to accentuate a moody guitar lead that sounds like it is being played in reverse.

Vocals are reminiscent of Atilla Csihar but only at times. The vocals in whole are very unique & utilize back masking through out the song to give this release a haunting feel that is brought out even more with the excellent (but not too polished) production.

The songs lyrics are comprised of the Christian Hymn, "The Dies Irae" (The Day Of Wrath) which were slightly altered so that it was a praise & beckoning for the end to come upon us. You can feel the conviction of this band in the delivery of the notes of this song/demo, that holds up after several plays.
