Sadness takes root deep within the soul, where bitter memories, unspoken words, and unshed tears intertwine. This is a lullaby for the pain that groans anxiously in the heart and in faded dreams. // mourneress.bandcamp ?
As my joints begin to creak, and with the passing of these cold, sometimes hot and dark spring days, the essence of Mourneress is unavoidable. Her voice, like a lulling musical breath, opens up small but immense spaces of poetry, both in Russian and English.
Ambient sounds, piano, and voice do their thing, along with sounds of nature, from the mountains to the sea, the valleys and their forests. Thus, her most recent work,
A Rooted Sorrow, released a year ago by its author Natalia Drepina, is inevitable and necessary.
Sounds from silence, from the depths of the soul, subtle darkness that emerges with delicate piano notes, and voices in an immense and unknown atmosphere of distant lands, framed in this work that encompasses almost 45 minutes of delicate musical poetry, a serene ambience, always framed by the piano and its rigid, subtle coldness that will simplify the journey through the portal where souls pass, and yours too.
In March of this year, Natalia also released the single "Melancholia," which further projects her creativity.
Despite missing her voice, she tells you what's necessary, lulling you with subtle, sweet, and painful notes, so immense with melancholic sincerity.
Similarly, music lovers may be interested in her work on her independent solo project, Your Schizophrenia. It's another sonic perspective, but with nuances of an encounter with Mourneress, a safe path to the senses. The inexhaustible path already traced remains firm, while the dance continues and the days bring their burden and their daily pleasures.
