Hi ! Can we begin this interview with an introduction to the savage world of Coldworker ? Who are you, where do you come from, where are you going ?
The band formed in january 2006. At first we worked as a trio : me (Anders Jakobson) on drums, Anders Bertilsson on guitar and Oskar Pålsson on bass. After a while we got a second guitarist called André Alvinzi and a little bit later Coldworker was completed by singer Joel Fornbrant. Were from the middle of Sweden, from Örebro and Arboga to be exact and we are going to bring full blasting death-metal to the world !
Was Mieszko Talarczyks tragic death the real beginning of the band ?
No. Well, ultimately it was, but theres really no connection.
Sweden is saturated with extreme metal bands of all kinds. What does Coldworker offer different in your opinion ? Personnally i find your mix of grindcore, death-metal & modern thrash sounds very fresh & brutal.
We havent really worked on being different, so far we have just done what felt right and what came out of us five when we played together. I havent really analyzed our sound and compared it to other Swedish bands.
Lets talk about 'The Contaminated Void', Coldworkers first album. Where did you record it ? Was it a cool experience in the studio ?
We recorded it ourselves in o

ur rehearsal room, so we never really went to a studio. It was a quite easy and relaxed recording. The recording were later mixed by Dan Swanö.
How did you compose inside the band ? Is it a common work of writing music ? Was it a long process to compose this first effort ?
Our song writing is executed through a lot of charing ideas and riffs and combining parts between us, although sometimes complete songs are brought into the rehearsal room. We hardly make up stuff on the spot, but it happens. The band started rehearsing in february and in june we recorded the album so it took four months to come up with everything for the record.
What do your lyrics deal with ? Who does write them ? Where does he take his inspiration ? Is Mieszkos disparition take part in it ?
The lyrics are concentrated around the subject of the darker side of the human psyche. All in the band except André writes lyrics and none of the lyrics are about Mieszko.
Anders, youre well-known for your past adventures in Nasum & Necrony. But Coldworker has a more modern approch of death-metal. Do you think death-metal must evolve ? Or you still appreciate old-school sounding bands like Kaamos, Verminous etc ?
Im not sure I agree about Coldworking having a modern approach. Perhaps its a mix between old and new school. Personally I prefere old school compared

to most of the modern stuff, but lately Ive started to appreciate the latter.
Lets talk about the album cover. Who did draw it ? What is the idea behind this visual ?
Well its Relapses inhouse artist Orion Landau who is the brain behind the artwork. In short its his interpretation of the lyrics and ideas. We didnt have any specific instructions to him other that we wanted a fairly light cover colour and content wise. As you have only seen the promo so far I must tell you that the final cover will be something special. Its a combination of clear plastic with white ink and full colour collages. These combinations of silhouettes and collages create a sort of imagery where the two pieces of art collaborates in a very interesting fashion. There are six of these scenes in the booklet and its a fine selection of disturbing pieces inspired by our lyrics.
Will you tour soon to promote your album ? What kind of bands would you like to share the stages with ? Will you play Nasum songs ?
Yes, we have a Scandinavian tour lined up the week after the album is released. Were also planing some sort of European tour next year. I think we can play with most sorts of death-metal bands. We will not play Nasum songs.
Last words are yours, thanx for your time ?
