Founded in 2002 by brothers Jake and Pete Adams in Rockbridge County, Virginia, Valkyrie played sporadic local shows for its first two years, and embarked on their first tour in May of 2004. Since then Valkyrie has been cultivating a presence in the heavy rock and doom metal underground with numerous short tours throughout the east coast including appearances at The 20 Buck Spin fest in Washington DC, The Templars of Doom fest in Indianapolis, Indiana, The Stoner Hands of Doom fest in Mesa, Arizona, Emissions from the Monolith fest in Austin, Texas, The Alehorn of Power fest in Chicago, Illinois, and the Doom or be Doomed fest in Baltimore, Maryland. Playing hundreds of shows in the space of a few years has garnered the band a loyal following of like-minded souls, especially in their home state of Virginia.

Self releasing two demos and a seven inch record over the course of 2004 and 2005 exposed Valkyrie to many fans in the U.S. and Europe. 2006 saw the release of their self-titled debut album which was engineered by Chris Kozlowski (Pentagram, Trouble, The Obsessed, Spirit Caravan, The Melvins, Blue Cheer ). Over the years the Adams brothers have enlisted a number of bass players and drummers including DC/Maryland drummer Gary Isom, (Spirit Caravan, Unorthodox, Pentagram, Wretched, Iron Man) who filled the drummer spot from March of 2006 to June of 2007. Currently Will Barry-Rec plays bass and Warren Hawkins plays drums.

Valkyrie’s twin harmonized guitar leads and clean dual vocal assault matched with a strong nod to classic doom and heavy metal creates a psychedelic and heavy sound that pays homage to classic heavy rock bands like DEEP PURPLE and THIN LIZZY while bringing to mind the pastoral and organic sounds of PAGAN ALTAR, WITCHFINDER GENERAL, and JETHRO TULL. With no regard to image, or retro-rock posturing, Valkyrie rides on with a true, classic, heavy metal assault that has turned many heads with its impressive live shows and soul-stirring conviction.
