PRESENT AND FUTURE
2006 sees the arrival of a solid and progressive sound with new vocals from Kil. Although having had to deal with some startling line-up changes over the years, UNSILENCE are still creating powerful music. With a new album to be recorded soon (hopefully!), the delving into the heady world of MySpace and more regular gigging, UNSILENCE have arrived.
THE PAST (1993-2005)
Founding members Kieron Tuohey (guitar), Mick Grundy (bass), Rick Barnes (drums), Rick Harding (guitar) and Andrew Hodson (vocals) came together at the end of 1993 to form UNSILENCE with their influence mainly from the rising doom scene.
The first demo Shadows Cast in Stone was recorded in May 1994 at M. A. Studio in Liverpool with Martin Ball engineering. It was released that September and received an encouraging positive response, as did the first gigs.
In 1995 a recording offer was made from Italian label Full Moon Rising. Recording began again at M. A. Studio at the end of September. Sadly, the record deal fell through and the tracks were released later, entitled An Unfinished Chapter, with the Italian label Seven Art Music.
The album Choirs of Memory was also recorded at M. A. Studio, with engineering by Chris Holt. It was scheduled for release in early 1998 with Seven Art Music, but unfortunately that deal also fell through. This was a hard time for the band and the album still remains unreleased.
Over the years there have been a number of line-up changes, notably the addition of Jonathon Gibbs (drums) and David Elliot (bass). The MCD Transfiguration was recorded in September 1999 and released in March 2000 and was immensely well received. After recording it was decided that an extra guitarist was needed, resulting in the addition of James Kilmurray. Gigs followed including the first gigs in Ireland with HONEY FOR CHRIST.
The next CD, A Walk Through Oceans was recorded in March 2002 and released in September with Golden Lake Productions. The MCD continued in the epic direction of Transfiguration, but this time with a darker edge. Drummer Jonathon Gibbs then left the band in early 2003 to persue a career in the south east, and was replaced by Andy McLachlan. Gigs followed in the UK and a mini tour including dates in Ireland with MOURNING BELOVETH.
In February 2004 Andrew Hodson left UNSILENCE. This was a huge shock for the band as Hoddy's vocals were an established part of our sound. After a brief period of turmoil and writing, guitarist James Kilmurray assumed the role of vocalist and work began on rehearsals with the current line-up continue.
