Biografia : The Reckoning (BEL)

The Reckoning was formed in the early 1993 by current members Peter en Morbid under the banner Infernal Legion. Several line-up changes followed through the years and finally found some stability with the coming of a bassplayer called Tom who played in a local coverband “Damage”. A first demo (my black beloved) was recorded with this line-up in 1997,followed up by a second one the year after (hymns to a blackened beauty) with that difference that keyboards , provided by Karen Herschens , where added to the band's raw and melodic black metal. Both demos where recorded by Gust “Lemmy” Lemmens in the band's rehearsal room and lay-outs where done by Kris Verwimp (marduk, absu, enthroned, etc.)

While completing the line-up with guitarist Styg at the end of '98 the keyboards fell from grace to make room for the band's wish to make a more aggressive style of metal resulting in the 5 track c.d.-demo ; Die and become…a forgotten world (2001). Several gigs followed after the release ; sharing the stage with bands as Vader , Sodom , Sinister , Morbid angel , Deicide and many other highlights of extreme metal. Belgian record label L.S.P-company offered Infernal Legion the possibility to record a first full- length album entitled “Sculptured humans” which was released in February 2000 and recorded at Soundshape studio in Schaffen. More gigs where planned and played after the release including a number of shows with Behemoth. Unfortunately L.S.P. quitted their work as a record-label so Infernal legion spended most of it's time writing new songs. Those songs where recorded at dè studio, Asse october 2003 and unleashed upon the hordes as a 6-track mini c.d. under the title “annihilate” in february 2004. The band sounded much faster, aggressive and more focused on that album then any previous effort and reached a higher level soundwise.

2005 marked the year of changes by the departure of Tom after long time duty and the arrival of new bassplayer Kristof (ex-axamenta, gracefallen). They also decided to change the bandname into “The Reckoning”. Partly because of the u.s. based infernal legion and the fact that the name anno 2005 lacked any conformity with the band's philosophy and ideals.

2006. The Reckoning releases their new full-lenght entitled "Deathlike Millennia" through the re-born SHIVER RECORDS label on April 21. Receiving positive reviews by the world-wide press in various magazines and e-zines, the album is stated as their best effort so far. Recorded at Hertz studios, bialystok, Poland and played with the intensity of a very unsatisfied rhino, "Deathlike Millennia" indeed leaves no room for mercy...only reckoning.
