STRANGULATION was formed in Karlskoga, Sweden 2001. The deathsquad was born from another act, Butchery. In october the first session of death metal took form when Juha Helttunen (guitar) managed to get Tobias Israelsson (drums) and L-E Limnell (bass) into the band. They immidiately started to work on songs to record a demo. The sound was there from the beginning: Agressive and brutal death metal played with an raging metal attitude.

Without having found a suitable growler the guys occupied a local studio and out bursted a three track demo known as "Carnage In Heaven". Dennis from SPAWN OF POSSESSION and VISCERAL BLEEDING did the session job behind the microphone. The demo hit the underground July 2002. The same time Limnell leaved the band due to lack of motivation and was replaced by John Carlsson.

The "Carnage In Heaven" demo got good feedback from the zines/mags in the underground and was spread widely and to over 100 different publications all over the world.

In January 2003 the troop was completed by Rob Lundgren on vocals. Strangulation kept working hard writing new material and in the summer the same year it was time for a new studiovistit. At the same time Strangulation parted way with Rob as his vocal input wasnt suitable to the bands music. Instead Jonathan O.G took over the vocalduty. It clicked straight away and fot the first time in Strangulations history the band now have a full, solid and very strong line up.

In August 2003 a new 4 track demo was unleashed, "Withering Existence".
