Biografia : Slumber

Jari, Siavosh and Ehsan gathered one day in Jaris studio (Chaos Practice) to try out some new ideas and see what kind of music could be forged. There were no intentions of creating a band, it was just to ventilate some ideas and play some music with each other. The result of that session was the song Labyrinth. They were very excited of what they had just written and felt that they wanted to write some more songs. They met a couple of weeks later and created "A Wanderers Star" the very same night. At that point this little project turned serious and became the main project, and Slumber was officially born as a "band". A couple of weeks later, the song "Dreamscape" was done and after that "Conflict". When the four songs were ready a drummer was needed, so Ted Larsson (who previously played in "Needlerust" with Jari and upcoming member Daniel, before that band was put to an end) was taken in. The recordings began and lasted from the 19th to the 29th of June 2002. A hellish week filled with problems in the studio and all kinds of other backtracks, hellish but very interesting since we were totally in love in the music that was getting into the right shape. The demo got its final touch through mastering at Criteria Mastering by Thomas Johansson on the 29th of June 2002. When the demo was finished, the live-performance issues emerged. Slumber was in grave need of more members since merely four people weren"t enough for the vast arrangements of the songs. Daniel Albertsson entered immediately since he had done the song-arrangements and lyrics for Conflict, already knew each and everyone in the band and was easy to collaborate with. Now they were five, but that was still not enough. A bassplayer was needed because they didn"t want Siavosh to sing and play at the same time, so Mikael Brunkvist, who went to the same high school as Jari, Daniel A and Ted and played in two other bands (Joelbitar and The Knockouts) was taken in as a live-bassplayer. Another keyboardist was also needed because there was too much keyboard-arrangements for Ehsan to handle alone live, so he took in his friend Daniel B who plays keyboard and violin for a blackmetal/folk band named Magog. One year later, the demo "Seclusion" was recorded in our own "Chaos Practice Studios". This time live-bassplayer Mikael recorded the bass instead of Siavosh, and was thereafter a permanent member in the band. After a few weeks of trying to mix the demo, we realized that we needed a couple of fresh ears to do the work. So we turned to Thomas Johansson once again. This time he was assigned to do the mixing as well as the mastering. The result was more powerful than any of us had ever imagined coming out of the recording.
