Shallow intentions formed in early may 2006. The band was originally supposed to be a heavy metal band with a neo classical twist. The band members are Ian on guitar and Martyn on guitar and vocals, Faber on bass Dan on drums and Gibbs on the keyboard but started off on guitar.
They kicked things off by just playing covers by Children of Bodom and Metallica until everyone in the band was familiar to each others playing styles.
After a few months of just doing covers the band agreed it was time to start originals, their first ever song was Battle scarred and for some reason it came out very folkie so instead of forcing themselves into a genre they just went with the folk idea and it has proved to be a great success.
The band carried on writing songs until they had enough to start gigging. The very first gigs they did were jam nights at the excise house in Weymouth which turned out to be a massive hit by the local metal heads and everyone else in general.
They believe that the reason for people liking their music is because they have complex yet interesting riffs followed by great melodic melodies that just stick in your head.
After a year and a half of the band being together Gibbs left the band due to the fact he was too busy with his college course and work, which then left the band with one of the key instruments missing.
Then after months and months of searching Shallow Intentions finnaly found a new keyboard player called Isaac Lennard and so the band was once again complete.
Shallow Intentions main influences are Ensiferum as of their catchy melodies, Moonsorrow because of their style of their riffs and song writing and Amon Amarth because of the style of their vocals. But the band also likes to try and include their own unique style into their songs.
The band has just recorded their Debut E.P at Lightbug studios in December 2007 and would like to thank Adrian for all his hard work and putting up with the guys for a whole 3 days and for getting the best out of the band and the songs.
The E.P 'After Battle' was released on the 29th of Febuary 2008 at the Queens hotel in Weymouth. The band will be returning back to the studio in the near future to carry on recording for their debut album.
At this point in time the band is hoping to gig as much as possible to try and spread their name and to be know as the new and upcoming Viking metal sensation! But more importantly they are just doing it for the sheer passion of music and if anything comes from it then it shall be a bonus...
