Severnie Vrata is the leader pagan metal band in Russia. It was created in 1997 by Alexander Nevsky (guitars, vocals) and Nikita Parshikov (bass). As a base was taken pagan mythology and believes, reconstructed melodies, not from the traditional folk only, but from real pagan past. The lyrics have the words and meanings from old language and written in a way of modern saga. The style of the band is changing from album to album mixing pagan heart with different kind of metal, because music is colors for state and feeling; to be pagan doesn’t mean always play folk. In 2000 Severnie Vrata signed a contract with Russian record company Fono and released debut E.P. “Otchizna”. It was 6 tracks of brutal and true pagan music recorded live with computer drums. In 2001 followed the album “Na voinu” had became a classic of Russian pagan metal. Origin of an album is in arrangements and melodic. The guitars imitate folk instruments instead of using keyboards for that. In 2003 released a third album “Prav..” recorded in Finland at Astia studio “A” by Anssi Kippo, and so-produced with him. It is really good quality record music and arrangements with balalaika and much known Russian song “Polushko-pole”. The forth album “Ravnovesie” have been released in 2005 and recorded at Fantom Pain studio in st.Petersburg, mixed at Astia studio by Anssi Kippo, produced by Igor Anokhin. It is sounds more like pagan thrash&death metal and tell about us in the end of the times. All this years, Severnie Vrata was touring in Russia and Belarus have concerts as single, as with many different artists. Most known is King Diamond (2001), Cradle of Filth(2003), Finntroll, Norther, Ensiferum and others.
