Secrets of the Moon are considered one of the leading bands in the German Black Metal scene, not only for their long-standing presence in the movement but also their grasp of deep and masterful Black Metal. Coupled with a distinct sound and concept of the band stands in a unique position. Frequently described as Surreal-, Black-, Occult-Metal, the band neither classifies itself nor limits itself in its previous creations.
Secrets of the Moon formed in 1995 and boasts several releases, many of them now sought-after rarities and gems in private collections. Three demo-tapes, several vinyl releases and one CD trace the musical path of the band and reflect a constant evolution which finds its actual perfection in the new opus "Carved in Stigmata Wounds". However, it was not just the band's releases that led it to its current status. Just as decisive is their consistent live-presence. About 30 gigs have been performed thus far, and with these appearances the reputation of Secrets of the Moon as one of the best Black Metal live bands continues to grow.

Secrets of the Moon's new opus "Carved in Stigmata Wounds" stands out mainly for its inventiveness and skillful, versatile instrumentation as well as for its studied compositional and musical execution. Recorded in Karlsruhe's Tidal Wave Studio with producer Patrick Damiani, who is responsible for the outstanding sound of many well known rock and metal releases, this new album represents a standing climax the band's evolution and may prove to be a milestone of German Black avantgarde Metal.
