After a decade of singing for various heavy metal top acts, such as METHUSALEM and CONQUESTADOR, and touring as support for BLAZE BAYLEY and more, vocalist David Marcelis decided to form his own band under the name of LORD VOLTURE. Strongly influenced by the traditional heavy metal bands from the late 70s and 80s, David soon wrote numerous powerful songs and started to record what would become the LORD VOLTURE debut album. This metallic masterpiece was entitled BEAST OF THUNDER and given birth to in June 2010. The music is characterised by dirty guitar riffs, pounding drum and bass sections, high-pitched power vocals and screaming guitar solos. Multiple guitarists participated in the album recordings, among whom is Canadian guitar legend Jeff Waters from ANNIHILATOR. The LORD VOLTURE live band was then set up with some of the most talented and devoted metal musicians The Netherlands has to offer. On guitars are David’s brother Paul Marcelis (UP THE IRONS, MERCYFUL FAKE) and Leon Hermans (BURN, UP THE IRONS). The rhythm section is formed by Simon Geurts (MERCYFUL FAKE) on bass and drummer Frank Wintermans (SUBSTANCE). Their energetic performance makes every show a spectacle of unknown proportions. For all who bear a heart of steel, LORD VOLTURE is a definite MUST!
