Insomnia was formed in the early autumn of 2008 as a combination of members of Nemia and Snakes&Sirens. Nemia had been struggeling for a few years to find good musicians and has never truly been complete. Ruben had been approached by both bands, but eventually chose Snakes&Sirens, where he could replace Jeffrey Revet (Stream of Passion) on the synths. He, however, still kept in contact with Nemia’s singer Karen. When Bjorn and Bas decided to quit Snakes&Sirens, Karen and Ruben came up with the idea to combine Nemia (at that moment harbouring three members) to form a new band.

On the 9th of Octobre 2008 the first rehearsal was a fact and it worked like a dream from the start. Since that first rehearsal things have gone very fast. Music has been written at an enormous pace and things just work between the members. Insomnia exceeds everything that Nemia or Snakes&Sirens have ever been. We genuinely believe that we’ve got something to add to the music- and metalscene and that we can improve our unorthodox combination of styles to something that one might call ‘Insomnia’.
