Biografia : Grate

GRATE was formed as a solo project in 2001 by Nick Holmquist after being a just a tad fed up with the lack of ambition with some his then fellow band members. The album "I For One" was released after the summer same year. The music was a mix of noise core, jazz, sludge, but always with a raw metal coating. Swedish radio gave it regular air play and it finally sold out all 1000 copies. By then it was a fact: GRATE had to be a band. Dale Whitaker (Watchworks and Hope Over Fear) found himself behind the drums, Patrik Akterhall (The Preachers) was forced to act out on the bass guitar and Nick Holmquist on vocals and the guitar made the perfect team. They released "What You Think" in 2003 and it was definitely more "in your face"- metal/hardcore and was played regularly on the radio. Naturally, it only took about 6 months and all the copies sold out. Right now, the album "You Should Be" is in the works with the promise "heavier truth than any diary". GRATE has shared the stage with bands like Abandon, Burst, 4 Track Demons, Kid Commando and many more.
